First time reading an Amanda Quick (a.k.a Jayne Krentz), The story kept me involved and I was wrong about the WHODUNNIT person was.
I have to say this was a great read

This was cute! The plot was enjoyable, & I liked Irene a lot. Her relationship with the hero was fun, though I did feel like it was really rushed — I would have liked getting to see these characters do the slow-burn dance for another book or two, tbh. In fact, I felt that *not* turning this into a series about an intrepid reporter solving Hollywood crimes with her beau was a real missed opportunity. Also, the end wrapped up much too neatly. ★★★☆☆.

I took zero pictures at the show last night but killed my voice singing along. Get ready for my bookhaul pics though—I made out big time. And yes, I‘ve already read Hillbilly Elegy but it‘ll be a nice compare and contrast with Mayor Pete‘s book. Plus, I want my dad to read Hillbilly as well and the best way to do that is to buy it. #bookhaul

Just a quick and easy read from one of my go-to‘s. Romance novels have always been my guilty pleasure, and this one was everything a good romance/mystery should be. Cheesy and cute with a good little twist at the end. Not my favorite of her books, but still very enjoyable!

The setting of this book ❤️❤️❤️ The story was good and the characters interesting. The last 2 chapters made it a pick for me, not my favorite book by Quick, but an entertaining one. #romance #romantsy

What an opening!

I just 🙄 and I'm only on page 44. Going to put this aside. I have a feeling this might be a #bail...

Simple. Safe. Tepid. Meh.

This was a quick, pleasant read. I didn't figure out the twist in the mystery and enjoyed the touch of romance, but it didn't blow me away or keep me up late.

Amanda Quick/Jayne Ann Krentz used to be an auto buy for me. But over time, she started telling the same story every book & I gave up. I gave this one a try because of the #1930's & #Hollywood. The mystery was adequate & this wasn't total cookie cutter. But the speech patterns were very modern & sounded like her Jayne Ann Krentz stories. Also the interior dialogue was very similar to every other book she's done. #romantsy

Really looking forward to reading this tale of classic Hollywood and drowned actresses. It promises loads of glamour and intrigue!

Set in America after the Great Depression, a romantic suspense. Not my favorite but solid 3.5 stars

Set in 1930's California around the jet-setting Hollywood crowd, Ms. Quick has just enough twists in the mystery to keep the reader guessing while not shorting the romance as well. (And I love the cover!)

The perfect book to read between all of my heavy reads of late. I received this through #netgalley. The first book I've read by Quick, this has a mix of mystery and romance. Irene is a spunky character who knows what danger looks like. This novel sets up well for future installments.

I received this for free on GoodReads. A multi-layered mystery set in 1930s Hollywood. The writing is nothing fancy, but solid and the plot and pacing are great. I would have liked to get a better feel for the Hollywood glamour. I also didn't like that when things got hairy, the "boys" seemed to take over and the "girl" took a bit of a backseat. Still, very entertaining and engaging. This will make a good beach read this summer.

This was the first Amanda Quick book I've read. The glamorous Old Hollywood setting plus the mystery drew me to this book. It was entertaining and the story moved along at a good pace. I didn't really care too​ much about the romantic part of the plot, but I enjoyed the mystery and suspense.

Just reorganized my ARC shelves at home. This is the "authors about to visit the store" stack that lives on top of the bookcase. I'm almost finished with the Karen White, and the Amanda Quick is next up.

Diving into this e-galley from netgalley on a rainy, lazy afternoon. I've never read Amanda Quick before but I couldn't resist the 1930s Hollywood setting. Unfortunately, the e-galley lacks the pretty cover image.
