Does anyone else do the Literati book club ? Just received the notice that our picks for January will be the last ones because they want to focus on the children's book club more. I really enjoyed it I hate to see It go.

Suet624 I didn't, but I'm always sad to see a book club end. 2y
Sapphire I did when it started but couldn‘t keep up and unsubscribed awhile ago. I love that Ann Arbor bookstore. My granddaughter does get a box from them quarterly. The 5 a month and only keep what you want and return the rest was too much decision making and unnecessary deadlines for a new mom. But Paisleys favorites are always among her books from them and are never ones I would have picked 2y

Does anyone else get excited when you see your hometown in a book? I do ! This one took me by surprise though! This is a true crime story set in the late 1800s that I never heard of before and never thought my town would be connected...if anyone loves Victorian true crime this book is for you.

For my true crime followers who loved and read in cold blood by capote this is about another possible murder the perpetrators of the clutter family may have committed very good so far !

Reviewsbylola Wow, this author is brave for tackling a story that ties into Capote‘s book. That seems so intimidating to me. 😂 I‘ll have to read this one. I definitely remember hearing about it—I think it‘s mentioned in In Cold Blood. 5y
NikkiRobson73 So far the author has made a pretty good case 5y

My current audio book I‘m listening too ...I always have an audio book going besides a physical book ..it‘s great for driving and doing chores around the house .Does anybody else do more than one book at a time regardless of the format ?

Scochrane26 I don‘t like more than 1 book at a time unless it‘s in a different format. I usually do audio & physical. 5y
AprilMae I tend to have a kindle book and a physical book going at the same time. I read my kindle book on the go (lunch break, waiting on people ect) and the physical one at home. 5y
BillBlume I do this a lot, too. Especially like to listen to an audiobook for walking my dog Wicket. 5y

Hoopiefoot Yup! I usually have an audio book, physical book & Kindle book all going at the same time 5y
faelinwolf I usually have a book on my nightstand, a book I carry in my bag, an audiobook on my phone for when I'm walking or doing chores around the house, & an audiobook in my car! 😄 5y
Mrs_B Yes definitely, audiobook for chores and driving, physical book for evenings, baths and bedtime. 5y
lahousewyfe Physical entertaining book on the nightstand, book on my Book for middle of the night and long line reading, and a work (usually nonfiction about writing, creativity or business) book on my desk. 5y
tracey38 If they're different formats, I can do it, but this is a recent thing as I used to only be able to read one at a time no matter what. But now I usually have a physical book I read at home, an audiobook for driving, and sometimes a book on the kindle app for when I'm at lunch at work or waiting at a doctor's office. 5y

Does anybody else besides me who is reading along and all of a sudden your hometown pops up out of nowhere get all excited and freaked out lol. Did not realize there was a Saratoga springs NY connection in this !

Melismatic Same! And I‘m from Upstate too! Utica originally...but I live in Brooklyn now lol 6y
NikkiRobson73 @Melismatic that‘s awesome ! I‘m living in Georgia right now and I miss NY terribly ! 6y
Cedar_and_Grapefruit So cool! I'm from a little village in upstate NY called Northville. Like you, I've relocated to the south: first in Lafayette, LA and now in central FL not far from Tampa. How are you finding the transition? 6y
See All 11 Comments
NikkiRobson73 @Cedar_and_Grapefruit I know northville it‘s only 40 min from Saratoga ! I‘ve had a difficult time to be honest everything is so different And I‘ve had older southern people tell me yankee go home and I also had 2 heat strokes from the humidity and heat so it could have been better for sure ! Lol how was your transition ? (edited) 6y
Cedar_and_Grapefruit We spent a lot of time in Saratoga 💕 It took me a good ten years to adjust. I'm far more at home in FL, likely because it has so many transplants from the north. In which part of GA do you live? @NikkiRobson73 6y
NikkiRobson73 @Cedar_and_Grapefruit Waycross it‘s about 90 min from Florida line 6y
Cedar_and_Grapefruit @NikkiRobson73 I've had similar experiences. The in-laws, some of my workmates... I was told I talked like a lawyer, which was meant as an insult, because I didn't have a southern accent. My looks, my clothes, my speech, my viewpoints were all discredited just because I was from NY. It started to affect my marriage because so many questioned my husband for marrying someone from NY. That's when I said it was time to move. We've been happy since! 6y
NikkiRobson73 @Cedar_and_Grapefruit sounds exactly what im going through and my husband is from down here and his family told me one time I need to start doing things the southern way and it‘s little jabs against me and the north all the time (edited) 6y
NikkiRobson73 And I have also been told by the locals that Yankees keep coming down here and taking their jobs and it‘s the complete opposite when we go home to visit nobody gives my husband a hard time about his southern accent 6y
Cedar_and_Grapefruit @NikkiRobson73 Good luck to you! It's funny how romance novels make a southern hero & his welcoming family warm your heart. I suppose there must be success stories IRL, but that has been far from my experience. Yours too, I'm sad to hear😪 If it's any consolation, we've been thriving for the last 12 years since we moved here. He loves it and I do too. It was a battle to get him to move, but we've both benefitted. Hang in there, Miss Fabulous 💙 6y
NikkiRobson73 Thank you for your kind words and you‘re story has given me encouragement and it‘s nice to know I‘m not crazy ! Lol so glad to hear you and your husband are doing well ! Do you ever go back to upstate to visit ? 6y
