Seven Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change
Seven Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change | Stephen R Covey
"The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People" is a comprehensive program based on developing an awareness of how perceptions and assumptions hinder success---in business as well as presonal relationships. Here's an approach that will help broaden your way of thinking and lead to greater opportunities and effective problem solving. Be Pro-Active: Take the initiative and the responsibility to make things happen. Begin With an End in Mind: Start with a clear destination to understand where you are now, where you're going and what you value most. Put First Things First: Manage yourself. Organize and execute around priorities. Think Win/Win: See life as a cooperative, not a comprehensive arena where success is not achieved at the expense or exclusion of the success of others. Seek First to Understand: Understand then be understood to build the skills of empathetic listening that inspires openness and trust. Synergize: Apply the principles of cooperative creativity and value differences. Renewal: Preserving and enhanving your greatest asset, yourself, by renewing the physical, spiritual, mental and social/emotional dimensions of your nature. Stephen R. Covey is the most respected motivator in the business world today. Learn to use his "7 Habits Of Highly Effective People" --and see how they can change your life.

Nothing wrong with these lessons, but for me they felt kind of intuitive. There was something old fashioned and even comforting about the advice that I did enjoy. It reminded me of the classes my father took for his company in the 80‘s. Dad is highly effective, so maybe it worked. 🤷🏻‍♀️

#MissMyDad @Rissreads
My dad wasn't much of a reader, but he was a fan of Stephen Covey's 7 Habits book, and I still think about both it and him when I'm working, even if it couldn't be further from my reading preferences. The odd thing is, I have all these bookish memories linked to him: 1) him wanting to buy me this expensive book when I was a kid but making sure I would read it (I never did), 2) me taking John Dean's memoir from his shelf 👇

Billypar and discussing the Watergate scandal with him while we were at the beach on vacation, 3) trying to find books he might like while bored in the hospital and settling on And Then There Were None, though I'm not sure if he read it. Even without reading much, he always talked about wanting to find the time to relax with a book. He was a sharp writer and a lover of song lyrics, so I think he would have loved reading given the right circumstances. 8mo

Here‘s my reading progress for this book I‘m reading. I now have 1 hour left in the audiobook but I‘m going to stop listening for tonight. I listened to some of this book tonight while playing Cookie Jam Blast and Cafeland on my phone. This book was talking about synergy before and I don‘t know what that word means. I‘ve never heard that word. I don‘t understand everything this book is saying but I understand some of it.

Here‘s my reading progress for a book I‘m currently reading. I‘m almost finished with it. I‘ve been listening to this book late at night while doing laundry and playing Cookie Jam on my phone. I‘m finally finished doing laundry. I just put some towels in the dryer. The next part that I don‘t like doing is putting away the laundry. Maybe I‘ll put away the laundry later while finishing this audiobook.

For Wednesday‘s #bookquote, I‘m sharing a quote from this book that I‘m currently reading. I‘m borrowing the audiobook of this book from Libby and I‘m thinking about buying a physical copy so I can spend more time studying it. I don‘t currently own a physical copy. It‘s an interesting book. It‘s just a lot of information to process.

I‘ve been listening to the tagged book, but I‘m switching over to the print version because of phrases above. Sometimes something just hits you at the right moment. The author talks about responsibility. He broke it down: response - ibility : or our ability to control our response. While I knew the meaning of the word, this really just put it all in perspective. We are always in control of our responses to everything.

I remember reading the 7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens before entering high school and it had a major impact on my work ethic and productivity. This book was no different! Tons of great quotes, helpful insights, and tips and tricks for increasing productivity and building relationships!

jb72 I‘m currently listening to the tagged book. It‘s very good. I haven‘t read the habits book yet, but I may start it next. 5y
samantharoberts @jb72 how cool! I‘ll have to check it out thanks for the recommendation! 5y

Really a life changing book. It really puts our habits and what is more important into perspective. Being positive and having a proper mindset is essential to be successful.

Help! There is a quote from a movie or a book but NOT this book that‘s similar to Covey‘s idea of “begin with the end in mind”. I also don‘ think it‘s the quote hat shows up you get when you Google something like “start as you mean to go”. Thoughts???

ravenlee I‘ve always heard the aphorism, “begin as you mean to go on,” and I‘ve seen variations on that in various books, but I‘m not aware of it originating in a book. 5y
jpmcwisemorgan @ravenlee Thank you! I feel better because the Covey quote came up in something else I‘m reading and I couldn‘t quite get why it was familiar and knowing that it shows up in some form in more than one book helps. That means that‘s probably what‘s happened for me - it‘s probably not one specific book. Now my brain can stop thinking about it. 5y

Ever pick up and read any of those self help books, then find that they all just say essentially the same thing? Yeah me too. This book however is 180 degrees different, and actually something I notice all my rich friends doing (rich in health, wealth, love and happiness). Not to say they read this book, but the fact is, it is stuff they do. So when I read it I was like, oh my goodness!

A good primer to self improvement and a cohesive if yet barebones system of implementation. Highly recommend to be read along Drucker and Frankl.

A little into this book and so far it's not a pointless self help book that only relates to that author. This is a book to help you change your own personality to become better and more effective in your own eyes.

The tagged book, I read years ago and it had a huge impression on me...it gave me the energy and focus I needed to make some very big decisions. Books are just amazing!

Moray_Reads I haven't read it but it's such a genre classic. It's amazing how small things can have such a big impact. Thanks for entering ❤️ 6y

Have heard great things about this book for years. Was finally motivated to read it when some people expressed a lot of passion for it. I read about a chapter a week, giving myself time to process the information and apply it to my life. Highly recommend for personal growth. #LitsyAtoZ #MountTBR #Nonfiction2018

jb72 Oh a boat stamp sounds interesting! 7y
AceOnRoam @jb72 Yeah it's a geeky thing yachtie readers do to see how far their books travel around and if they come back to them down the track. 7y
jb72 Wow that‘s awesome! I try to leave bookmarks in some of the books I pass on. 7y
AceOnRoam @jb72 I'd like to thank you for that because I just love finding bookmarks in books I pick up secondhand. I always wonder if they stopped reading at that page or if they just shoved it in randomly. 7y

Highly recommend. We all have habits, more bad than good that is hard wired. We learn them from our parents, our up bringing and things we have done that we convinced ourselves that it was right. The harsh reality is... it's not and in fact it's unexceptable and unhealthy. This was my first ever read book. 2014 this book had helped me cross over from average to greater. My life was able to flourish and bloom into what it is today.
