Latest book club pick. 🩸🩸🩸🩸 🎧
I cannot understand how she got away with this for so long?!?!? Did she start out actually believing or hoping her idea would work or did she know from the beginning that it would never work? I find it fascinating the kinds of people who can be so brazen with their lies and how they manage to fool intelligent people. Ego is definitely a dirty word. Greed is another.

TiredLibrarian I read this with a book group too, and thought it was riveting and appalling. 1d
Texreader This was an awesome book. To me it shows the incredible continued value of investigative journalism 1d

LeeRHarry Thought this was a great read too. It made me very angry, particularly I think as I work in pathology. 24h
Rissreadswithcats @LeeRHarry this would have hit home on another level for you then. 19h
Rissreadswithcats @Texreader yes especially in our current climate of fake news! 19h

It‘s evident the author did thorough research on Bridgewater and Dalio. Toxic CEO and Founder, toxic work environment. I have never shook my head at what I was reading so much in my life…people selling their souls and self dignity for the almighty buck.

One of the best non-fiction, personal growth books I have ever read. Told in a story format with very relatable examples. This book has useful information for people at all stages of life.

Finished Girl in a Pink Dress 5 🌟. Keeping upon group reads. DNF‘d Hester, it‘s me not the book.

Just started The Fury, meh so far. Love being back with the Dashwoods in Sense & Sensibility. About half way through Miranda‘s memoir about living with chronic illness. Enjoying it! I loved her character in Call the Midwife and laughed so hard I cried when watching her sitcom. Next up audio will be The Wedding People.

Keeping my goal the same as the last couple of years because it‘s achievable. I don‘t want to feel I *have* to read just to hit a goal.

Lcsmcat I do that too. And this year I am doing a “pages read” goal to encourage me to read some of my longer books. 1mo
TheEllieMo @Lcsmcat I did that too. I kicked off the year with 2 very short books so I will have to read a longer one to balance out 1mo
Lcsmcat @TheEllieMo You‘ve got time. 😀 1mo

Sparklemn @Lcsmcat Smart! I think I‘ll try a pages goal, too. 1mo

Rana Foroohar is global business columnist and associate editor at the Financial Times and CNN‘s global economic analyst. Published in 2019 it‘s an absorbing and frightening look at how Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix and Google hoard data and intellectual property to maintain market dominance, influence politics and maintain their value and a prescient warning given how the companies are now jostling to influence the incoming Trump presidency.

I received this book as a gag gift ages ago, but I actually didn‘t hate it. Some of it definitely didn‘t age well (her successful partnership with K-Mart, her praise of Diddy and Jared from Subway, and her friendship with a certain someone whose name I refuse to speak or type). And I had to wonder what her staff REALLY thought of her opinion of herself as a leader. But I absolutely would recommend this to someone looking to start a small business.

Bookzombie I‘m just sitting here thinking I would prefer to be Dorothy except maybe for the money. 😂 #thegoldengirlsrule 1mo
