Warm breeze, shady backyard, iced green tea, compelling mystery. My Sunday afternoon is all set! 🙌🏻😎
Out of the 39 books that I read throughout the #SummersEndReadathon, only 6 of them were on my actual shelf😂 Most of these I did a combo of book and audio just to keep the timer running. My favourite of this stack has to be A Life In Parts, though I was also pleasantly surprised by The Forgotten Girls and will definitely be checking out more of that series. It was a wild week & I‘m a little sad that it‘s over, so there will have to be a repeat!
Finally home after another impromptu trip to the states. This time for Chobani Yogurt. Haha. Thanks to my insomnia last night and my walk to work this morning, I‘m already at 6 hours for day 3 of #SummersEndReadathon. I‘m going to put in a few more hours while I eat dinner, and catch up on all your awesome posts! 🐻📚
Sleepily walking to work, after another night where I was up until after 5am, listening to my audiobooks, and trying to sleep. I had to pause the tagged book though, and move to something a little lighter, cause it was getting too creepy for a bedtime audiobook 😅

My #Litsypartyofone included finishing a great book, so I would call that a win! 📚
I could not put this book down. The ending was a little rushed, but the rest of the book makes up for it. Highly recommend this for a read, but prepare yourself for emotional parts.
My husband with me in any book section 😊
Update: The Forgotten Girls is turning out to be great! I look forward to reading every day.
Finished one great book today.. let's hope this one is just as amazing! 🤞
While this is the 7th book in the Louise Rick series, it is the first I read. While the story itself was good, it was a bit disjointed at times. Wondering if something was lost in translation. Overall the story was enjoyable and the characters were well developed. I don‘t think anything was lost in my starting at book 7. It may be worth going back and starting at the beginning to see.
I did not know before I began to read this mystery thriller that it is one of many in a series. I liked the dark, somewhat gory style of writing. There was some comic relief and romance. The author is famous in Denmark and the book was translated in many different languages. Overall, it was a good beach read.
“she was the kind of person willing to give up sex if it meant also giving up the pressure of having to be something for someone else.” - This is my favorite quote of the book thus far. Really enjoying this summer crime thriller for my book club.
Happy Mother's Day to me! I took a much-needed day off today so my husband and I went to Barmes and Noble and Olive Garden for lunch. It's so hard for me to choose books when shopping for them bc I get so overwhelmed and want ALL the books! #bookhaul #mothersday
I picked this for the popsugar reading challenge Nordic noir. It was well written, quick read Very rape-y I wish I was warned
Thank you so very much @Cinfhen !!!! I love everything!!! Can‘t wait to use this book club journal in January!!! These books sound so good!!! So happy that we are friends!! You are such a sweet and thoughtful person!! 😘😘 Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you and your family!!
I‘ve been wanting to read this chart busting thriller by danish author Sara Blaedel since the translation to English was published last year. I‘m going to post this as a pick because it‘s a fast paced “beach read”.(pacing reminds me of Final Girls) That said, the translation is not very good. Weird use of future and past tense abound. Easy to ignore but it did frustrate me in spots.
This was only ok. Quick read. Dark and disturbing like most Scandinavian thrillers. If I didn‘t already have the next book I‘d bail on the series.
Love me some Scandinavian crime dramas. Ready to try a new (to me!) author & series!
I was drawn in right away, but less than impressed with character development, and I outright disliked the ending. This is one in a series of books with these characters, so maybe if I read others I could have some questions answered, but I'm not invested enough in the characters to do that.
This book was just okay. It was very tedious and seemed to ramble on too much when it came to side plots that really had nothing to do with the real story. I am usually good at figuring out the murders are in books and movies, but I didn't see this one coming because all the babbling (maybe intentionally) kept me a bit detached and distracted. It was a book that I kept putting down and just wanted to be done with in the end. Good premise though.
A solid mystery pick, I enjoyed this one even though it was pretty dark. I've been having a bit of trouble concentrating lately (ahem politics), so I'm glad that this sucked me in for a bit 🤓
I read this one as a serial read on Barnes & Noble Readouts, on my Nook. I liked it enough to be curious about the next book in the series, but I'm wondering if the storytelling suffers a little from translation into English. It was a quick and diverting read. Using it as F for #LitsyAtoZ, and also for Denmark in #aroundtheworldin80books.
Had a very long, very frustrating, very exhausting week at work. Finally have the day off tomorrow so this kid and I are cuddling and reading. Night Night Littens📖📚. #TeslaIsTheBestCat
I decided to pick up this book because it was Barnes & Noble's Serial Read offering for the month. I had no idea this was the 4th book in a series! That being said, I did not have any trouble, nor did it dawn on me that I was reading from the middle of a series. Please note that this book does touch on the subjects of rape & mental illness. The story drew me right in & kept me thinking about it even when I wasn't reading. Really enjoyed this one!
I read this for free this month on B&N Readouts, and I probably shouldn't complain about free, but...
I wanted to enjoy this book, and there are some things that were good. Up to a certain point, I had no idea who the bad guy was and how everything connected, so points for not being super predictable. On the other hand, there was also sloppy, sexist drivel and a bunch of side stories that had nothing to do with the mystery. 2 1/2 ⭐
Aaagh. I wanted to like this so much. But after the author turned the partnership into an office romance, the rest of the book went downhill.
This upset me immensely, because it trivialized a protagonist that I was really invested in.
And then when the author implies that a brain injury is the reasoning behind a hyper sexualized violent criminal, I. WAS. OUT.
Oh well. I finished it out of spite.
Loved the characters in this book! The investigation Louise Rick was heading was interesting and I didn't see the end coming. Think I'll eventually pick up the next book in the series!
Up next...
Started this on my flight to Chicago and so far it's keeping my attention 🕵🏻♀️ Can't wait to see where it leads

Day 12 of #ReadJanuary
Like many Littens, I have already read a LOT of books with #girlinthetitle
I'm currently reading The Forgotten Girls in daily installments on B&N Readouts, and The Girl With All the Gifts is my planned 'Girl' book for #LitsyReadingChallenge this year. 👍
Started book 2 for 2017, only on the 3rd chapter but not bad so far easy read for my 🚂 commute to work. It's free on the Nook app only available till January 31st. Every month Serial Reads in the Nook App offers a free book in increments for the month.
I thought it was sloooowwww. It took until a little more than half way to get better. I would say 2.5 ⭐️ because of the pace. The ending was also relatively predictable.
Free to read this month on B&N Readouts. So far, not bad.
Set my #ReadingChallenge goal for 2017! #BookishResolutions #ReadJanuary
Wow. Just raced through this one. My first Sara Blaedel book, that I tried after Crime by the book raved about her so much. Definitely recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A closeup of all the wonderful swag @AprilMaesBookHabit sent me!!!! I'm so incredibly grateful for all the goodies and thought that went into this gift 🙌🏻💗📚#secretsantagoespostal
A little disappointed as this book was pretty predictable but a quick read.
3.5 ⭐️s... I feel like the majority of the book was dragged out up until the last six chapters or so, and then it escalated so quickly. The end had too much happening too rapidly and the ending was weirdly abrupt. The end was also devoid of emotion when it should have been emotionally charged. Not sure if something hinted at at the end is explained in another of her novels, but I have a feeling I'll never find out.
