Woo-hoo! First time my favorite used book sale has been held since 2019. And I did some damage. Added to some series, got some favorite authors, picked up some pretty new books at a bargain! The tagged book is the only one purchased on a whim, never heard of it before. Nothing better than a big #bookhaul .

LeahBergen That‘s an awesome haul! I was so happy that our big book sales returned here, too. 👏👏 3y

Wow, this one took me by surprise. A very intense novella mostly comprised of the memories of two people (prior lovers - a relationship that ended poorly 30 years ago) who end up sitting next to each other on the 6:41 a.m. to Paris. Lots to mull over, leaves quite an impact. Different and highly recommended.

Couldn‘t resist buying a couple new books to support the awesomeness that is The Book Lady Bookstore (new and used) in Savannah, Georgia, including this little Parisian novel “The 6:41 to Paris.” Wish I could have sat all day in that big green chair, with my little green novel ... 📗💚📗

Eine Frau, ein Mann, ein Zug,eine Vergangenheit. Was passiert, wenn man sich Jahre nicht gesehen hat? Spricht man miteinander? Warum ist man nicht im guten auseinander gegangen? Immer im Wechsel werden Gedanken mitgeteilt & irgendwann kommt der Zug an.

A woman,a man,a train,a history. What happens,if you haven't seen each other for years? Do you talk to each? Why did things go worse? The thoughts of both are told separately & than the train arrives.

Sarah83 @Buechersuechtling du hattest Recht. Das andere ist wesentlich besser. 7y

A huge #petpeeve of mine is marketing copy that tries too hard to make connections to trends even when it makes no sense. Not everything will appeal to fans of Gone Girl and that's okay.

This book is about two old exes sitting next to each other on the train, feeling anxious as they remember their relationship and consider whether to break the ice. It's good, but in no way a "psychological thriller" as the copy claims. #MarchIntoReading

shelf-improvement Related: for a while, all new YA books were billed as "John Green meets Rainbow Rowell." #Staahhp 8y
ReadingEnvy Yes, not a thriller at all. But I really enjoyed it. 8y

MyNamesParadise @EvieBee84 oh it totally does! Shows like Supernatural I quit watching live 3 seasons ago but I get the dvds during Black Friday so one day I'm going to binge seasons 10 & onward! And commercials and waiting weeks between episodes suck!! Every episode of season 9 of Big Bang made me laugh my butt off!! 8y

MyNamesParadise @EvieBee84 like I was going to catch up on the current season of Big Bang but the first episode I was behind on wasn't on demand anymore. I hate watching stuff out of order!! 8y

This is a short ditty of a novel in which not much happens other than 2 ppl who were college lovers 25+ years ago end up sitting next to each other on a crowded train bound for Paris. I loved Blondel's simple & elegant writing style and this story would have made an awesome Francois Truffaut film.

Litlady If you don't like stream-of-consciousness writing, please avoid but to everyone else, I say jump on a train to the nearest bookstore or library and snag a copy. You never know who'll be sitting next to you. (edited) 8y

A wonderful short novel about two people meeting on a train after parting ways 27 years earlier. The writing has a dream-like quality that I love and that transports you into their memories - even though it's been translated from French, none of the emotion is lost. This is the first novel I've read by New Vessel Press, who specialize in translated works, and I'll definitely be on the lookout for more my them.

LiteraryinPA I love Alison Anderson's translations! She did 8y
Kitta @LiteraryinLititz That's another favourite of mine! Such a great book. I'll have to find some more translations done by her apparently I'm a big fan haha 8y
LiteraryinPA @Kitta She recently wrote her own book. It came out a few months ago and I want to read it! 8y

I loved this! Carefully and delicately plotted, but the real beauty here is the deep character studies for the two characters. The story takes places over less than an hour- the time for a train journey to Paris of course- but we have time to learn everything about these two, and to watch them reflect and regress and grow. I want to read everything by Blondel now!

Littens! I'm spending ~48 hours in planes/airports this month so I need all the books- and advice!
Should I get Scribd? Does anyone use it and love it? Hate it? Have some kind of discount code?

#toomanybooks #notenoughluggagespace

Chessa I haven't tried Scribd but does your library have Overdrive or Hoopla? Free ebooks/audiobooks for checkout! 8y
jessberk13 Agree with @Chessa - Overdrive is amazing! 8y
Smrloomis I love Scribd but it does depend on what you like to read. I'm not a big audiobook person so one credit is plenty, but I wish they had better literary fiction than they do. They have a better selection than they did before, but a lot of what I want to read is audio only ☹️️ 8y

I'm really enjoying this little book on a bright and sunny Sunday morning. I'm feeling the tension begin to amp up and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes. I've heard nothing but great things about it. After reading The Queen of the Night, which was so big and dense, it feels nice to be able to breeze through a lighter book.

Book 3 for the #24in48 Readathon. Quick read and interesting to read about the past from both sides, and to think about who we thought we'd be differs from who we become. @24in48
