so-soAn early novel by Hannah, I think, and less readable to me than her more current.
I always appreciate her female friendships and perspectives but this one felt a little twee and predictable. However, Jude's journey to understanding was very apt for my situation, albeit not for the same reason.
I'll always give her books a go! This would be a prime adaptation!

pickNight Road was a novel that brought me through lots of emotions. Happiness, joy, teenage love, parental love, love of friends, love of & for your children and really deep sadness. It had lots of heart wrenching memories and decisions to be made. I really enjoy the writing of Kristin Hannah and her stories leave me feeling the kindness and hopefulness of mankind. 4.75/5
pickI read this on the plane and was so glad to have a row to myself because I cried. A lot. You know from the first that something bad/sad and traumatic will happen, then it does, and you spend the rest of the time trying to get to a new normal/good place.
pickAnother stunning read by KH. She really unpacks the complexity of grief and loss and manages to help her characters heal without cheesiness or romance-esque fairytale endings.
pickShould I be doing many other things, yes. Do I care more about reading all I can before the start of school, also yes. Beautiful, tragic, nostalgic. I loved the characters, hated them in some moments. Emotional rollercoaster of a story, situations that I could never fathom. Powerful story filled with family, love, misunderstanding, growth, strength. From plot to characters there is extreme depth in this novel.
pickThis one tugged at every heart string. As a mother, some parts were a challenge to get through, but worth the struggle to reach the ending!
I really loved this book I related so much to the mother in this story. And it‘s Kristin Hannah!

I've already read Night Road and it's been on my wish list to own. I have books 1-5 of Miss Peregrine's but stopped reading after A Map of Days because I knew book 5 ended in a cliffhanger
so-soTalk about depressing…great writing, KH is wonderful. But this is a very depressing story. Even with a semi happy ending, it‘s depressing as hell. Book #5 in 2022.

so-soOk ~ 3rd book that I have read by this author in 3 days.... Are all of her books so gloomy? As much as I like her stories/writing, I‘m tired of characters with depression, alcoholism & drug problems ~ need something a little more uplifting 😉

I wanted to love this book as much as I loved 'The Nightingale' yet I couldn't. I found so much of this book to be over-the-top and the classifications of rich vs poor to be equally overwhelming. The characters seemed unrealistic and I HATED Jude (the mother). The husband and Aunt were my favorite and most relatable characters.
Yes! Yes! Yes! This is exactly the novel I need right now. Hannah won me over with "The Nightingale" and has proven within just the first chapter that she has a talent with words. The story and writing are captivating ?

Like a gentler and tamer version of The Great Alone. It was any easy read. I really liked Lexi's character. As a former lawyer, Hannah does a good job describing prison settings. I've been working in a prison for 10 years and one thing that will cause me⬇️

This book gave me all the feels.
Alexa was a daughter to someone who was a drug addict and lived in and out of foster care as a child. Moved to a town after her mother over dosed and knew no one.
She met Mia on the first day of freshman year and became best friends. Mia twin sister to Zach.
This books main plot teaches you forgiveness.

pickI liked this, but didn‘t love it as much as The Great Alone or Nightingale.
It did make me tear up a couple of times, so clearly had some impact, but there were a number of jumps in time that gave a distance to the narrative and meant that we didn‘t get a feel for the characters.

I have finally had a month where I have managed more than one book! I have been in a huge #whatshappeningtotheworld slump. Night Road was my favorite. The Mist was a reread, and helped get me out of the slump- SK is good at that! Krista‘s Escape was a disappointing novella that ends on a cliffhanger- don‘t care to know where that story goes! Hoping that August is even better. Also completed the #bookspin for July! (Year of Wonders)
pickI haven‘t been able to get through many books since this Covid stuff started, and depression is kicking my ass, but I managed to get through this one, which is a miracle in itself. Plus I did it in one sitting. I could relate so much to the mother in this book - loved every page. Kristin Hannah has a gift! Normally a four star, but given it‘s the first book I‘ve gotten through in a while I‘m giving it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really wanted to love this but I wasn‘t a fan of the several time jumps the novel made. Made the book feel more sectioned/like separate stories that just had a common thread. I liked the characters and the writing style. So maybe I‘ll try another of this author but this book just didn‘t do it for me

pickI think I have a new favorite author to add to the list. What an incredible book that pulled me in from the beginning. It was so emotional and I really feel the way she told the story from different view points heightened the emotion. I couldn‘t quite figure out how I should feel because each view point made sense. Love love love and highly recommend!
Lazy Sundays are my favorite! This is my first Kristin Hannah book and I‘m loving it so far!

Putting in the long haul tonight and trying to finish this one to make two books complete this #24in48. I‘m enjoying this but I hate-hate-Jude. I‘m over halfway and every time they mention her I want to throw myself out a window which is unfortunate since she is a main character. Certainly a redemption is coming but... hate it not too strong of a word. She sucks. At about 6.5 hours, my timekeeping is lacking.
Oh my goodness I‘ve had so much joy making bookmarks (for fun and profit I can hope can‘t I ?). It does, however, cut into my reading time. This book is waiting.
Anyone sell on Etsy or online have some tips? Suggestions?
