This book basically picks up years after the conclusion of The Forest of Hands and Teeth. It follows Gabry and a few others as they try to survive after a Breaker attack. Along the way, Gabry begins to discover that her entire life is basically a lie.

I‘m conflicted about this book. I like the world and enjoyed the plot twists/suspense, but the love triangle was really annoying. It was hard to look past to really enjoy the story.

I‘m not much of a sci-fi reader, but I‘ve had my eye on this book for quite some time. There‘re aliens, self-discovery, and race relations. The story & main character, Binti, definitely kept me wanting more; however, the ending was too easy, which makes me wonder if it will be addressed in later books. Other than that, I loved the story and how the author incorporated Black issues and history and I look forward to reading more.

I definitely enjoyed this book! If you like undercover resistance organizations, f/f romance, and real world issues, this is your book. Immigration/human rights play a huge role and it‘s also own voices, written by a Latinx author. It‘s beautifully written and has some really powerful one-liners throughout that make you miss home and the safety it brings.

I‘ve been waiting since August to read this book! The story takes place on an island where only a portion of the island prospers. The main character, Dani, is trained to fulfill one of two important positions within society, but when her upbringing starts to catch up with her, she has an important decision to make: join the resistance to free Medio or participate in the abuses of society

I finished WoR on the last day of the year and, holy storms, it was wild from start to finish! This book focused a lot more on Shallan‘s past and how she came to be the person she is and gave more insight to the Parshendi‘s intentions. Definitely one of my favorite Branderson books. I can‘t wait until I get my hands on the third book of the Stormlight Archive, Oathbringer!

This isn‘t your typical hero vs. villain story. Usually the hero is right & does everything they can to defeat the villain & bring justice to the people of their city. In Renegades, we see the villain‘s POV. We see how they came to power, what their og intentions were, how things went wrong, & what‘s being done to fix it. & I can‘t help but feel that maybe they‘re right. Maybe the heroes aren‘t all they‘re cut out to be.

Holy Cauldron! ACOMAF was not what I expected. It was so dark and real and it made me feel EVERYTHING. Definitely one of my favorite books of the year. I don‘t recommend this book for younger readers or anyone who has depression/physical and emotional abuse triggers unless you have someone to talk to about the themes in this book. There‘s a lot of mature content, but overall a great read.

I don‘t recommend listening to this book while you‘re working out. It will leave you a sweaty, crying mess! This book follows Ove, both past and present, as he maneuvers through life. Ove is on his own and is known to be a stern and bitter man until a family of four, almost five, moves in next door. Slowly Ove gets to know them, against his wishes, and he hesitantly discovers there can be more to life and relationships than he originally thought.

This book broke my heart into tiny pieces, stomped all over them then carefully pieced them back together with a purple glue stick and duct tape and set me off into the world. This story is about everything from friendship to abuse to redemption, recovery, loss, and first love. The author does a wonderful job covering these topics. Everything feels so real and that makes it all the more heartbreaking. This book does not disappoint.
