Tears of Frost | Bree Barton
post image
Pickpick

As a person with PTSD from sexual abuse, Tears of Frost portrays the shame and guilt felt by victims for years after. At first I didn't know if I was going to enjoy it as a sequel to Heart of Thorns, but it worked really well and you can tell Bree Barton wrote this as part of her own healing journey. I appreciated her note to the reader at the beginning disclosing the themes of the book as well as how she included numbers to helplines.

Hello Litsy Community! I'm participating in the Autism Speaks Walk and would love it if some of you would donate to my fundraiser! My little Spiderman was diagnosed with Autism last year and I would love to spread more awareness!

CarolynM My now 23 year old son was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome when he was 8. There were challenges, but I wouldn't change him. I hope you, he, and all your family are in a good place with it all. 4y
mylifeas_marissa @CarolynM Thank you so much! Some days can be crazier than others. He‘s actually my cousin but my mom watches him during the week. He definitely can be a handful but I wouldn‘t change who he is. 4y

Any other Littens get chronic migraines? If so, what do you do to help get relief from the pain? My usual go-to's of rest, sleep, and heat are no longer effective.

britt_brooke @Elma I thought you might have some advice for Marissa? 6y
cassareada I'm lucky to not suffer from migraines yet, but I do get tension headaches. I usually just put an ice pack at the base of my next to help. I don't know how you feel about piercings, but I know a few people who have suffered from really bad migraines and got the daith piercing. They said its helped with their migraines a lot. So that may be something to look into? 6y
jessinikkip I woke up with one today. My wife immediately got me two excedrin, two aleve and a claritan because I also have allergies... Opened a mountain dew for caffeine, turned off thr lught and let me sleep anither hour or so. Usually if I catch it early, that helps. Otherwise I havent found anything 6y
Elma Thanks for the tag @britt_brooke !! I had chronic migraines for 7 yrs. I found ice, peppermint oil, eye cover, triptans, an anti-nausea med, ginger candy, and cola or ginger ale to help. Do you see a neurologist? Mine only became episodic in the last couple months due to new preventatives that are on the market. One of the ones I'm on has a co-pay card that makes the first year free. Might be worth looking into. 6y
mylifeas_marissa @Elma I'm actually going to see the neurologist today. He took me off of my preventative medicine because it made me lose weight, so currently I only have medicine that helps to get rid of them. I'm hoping he can suggest another type of preventative for me. 6y
mylifeas_marissa @cassiopia I've considered getting the daith piercing again. I had it before but ended up with a concussion shortly after getting it. So I had to take it out for MRIs and the hole closed up. 6y
Elma How'd your neurologist appointment go? 6y
mylifeas_marissa @Elma it went well. He's switching up my one medine and taking me off of the ones that aren't working. He wants me to do physical therapy and he said my tremors I have are benign. 6y
Elma @mylifeas_marissa That's good. I hope the new med and physical therapy helps. 6y

I love Holly Black! I have only read her books about the Fae because I love old folklore and how she modernizes it. When I bought The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, I was a little hesitant because it was about Vampires and not the Fae. However, I did not need to worry because Holly Black created a beautiful story and did not disappoint!

P.S. This is the first e-book I have ever finished because I hate e-books usually lol.
