I got an advance reader's copy from #NetGalley

There were elements I enjoyed. One of the characters is an author hugely inspired by Lovecraft (thus the #Cthulhu) which was cool.

But there were things that just made me angry. I guess I really don't like mystery/thrillers were the resolution/reveal comes in the last 2 sentences :(

Book 41 of 2019, looking good for my goal of 80 this year #readingchallenge got an arc of this from #NetGalley full review up on goodreads, but the gist of it is, this was ok, not great. I think the author was being too ambitious and should have stuck with 2 narrators not 3, the “voices” didn‘t seem developed enough.

This is some pretty heavy academic analysis. The first 2 chapters definitely the strongest. Big block quotes on almost every page if that kind of think scares you like me you may want to skip this one!

This was ok... got it to review from #netgalley. Wish the titles were more modern and that the countries had been more diverse. Also read it on my non-colour kobo so I missed out on the full effect. Can you name this city ⬆️?

Nope, read chapter and I just couldn‘t go on. Too many things annoyed me 1)copious use of adjectives, 2)couldn‘t believe a girl would just start playing tonsil tag with the guy who is clearly creepy and 3) don‘t know why the author who doesn‘t identify as Asian-American chose to have her protagonist be?!

This is so much fun! Don‘t know much about Madame Tussaud but a great imagining of what her life may have been like, with creepy/funny illustrations by the author. At the ‘blood on the streets‘ part of the novel. Headed back there now 😜

Becker I agree. A fun book. 6y

This is fun to pick up if you‘ve been to the Tower of London especially, but even if you were just curious. Went in April ‘18 and got the tour from ‘Shady‘ who gets a mention in these pages. I‘m SUPER jealous of the beefeaters and their families who get to live here (even with the odd creepy ghost)!

Liking this quite abut so far, my only complaint (this happens with other books too and drives me nuts) is that the word ‘gay‘ wasn‘t used to denote homosexuality until 1953 and this is set in the 1800s. I feel like a good editor should catch these things, no?!

#bookmail the best kind of mail. Got a copy of this from Penguin because I asked a question on the “our shared shelf” bookclub on GoodReads! Love winning and even better whens it winning books! I‘m sure feminist godmother Audre‘s got all the answers!

The illustrations are the best part of this. Cool and creepy, I‘ll make sure to pay attention to what else the Morbid Anatomy Museum has to offer.
Its pretty chilly in the great white North so I have flannel sheets... which apparently don‘t photograph well, but they are cozy 😚

Finished the Galley for this. Had some flaws but interesting to see more about the tensions between indigenous Greenlandic people and the Danes who colonized them. Peter Høeg‘s Smilla‘s Sense of Snow is definitely a better pick.

How many books is too many books for a trip? These three + my kobo + Karl Ove for 11 days in Peru and I‘ll have some time to myself - that‘s not too far fetched is it?
