Coraline | Neil Gaiman
Pickpick

I really enjoyed this book. There were some parts that made me question if it was okay for kids but then I remember he said such stories are to teach children that the dragon can be defeated. It was nicely different from the movie which is always expected. Neil Gaiman is really making the list of one of my favorite authors.

It has been so long since I've chatted with you all. I am throwing myself into some Neil Gaiman stories and thought this would be a good day to get back to chatting books with other bibliophiles!

I read this one, Coraline, and Swapped My Father for Two Goldfish with my son!

It was a simple read. Interesting points. The best of which is mix your uniqueness with chance and consistancy and watch what happens.

When I picked this book up today, I was not expecting to read it all during my breaks at work. I love the creativity and simplicity of this book. So much to unpack in the short pages. I borrowed this one from the Library, but I am going to buy it. It will make a good reminder in those times when I can't figure out where my creativity comes from.

Charityann I love this book!😊 5y

This book made me so angry as it wrapped up. While it is beautifully written. The main character, Carrie, just upset me so much I almost bailed. Her choices were authentic but also very enraging . im glad i finished but dont know who i would rec this book too.

Samplergal I liked it. I remember being frustrated with her choices as well. 5y

Marsh is such a fantastic and real writer. I enjoyed this book about sisters finding their way back, out of the darkness. There is a bit of air of predictability to the story however which sometimes kept me feom reading. But this story also made me cry and care about the characters. Great story about holding into who is in your life and the bond of sisters.

I liked it. Then I didn't. Then I liked it again. And then I got mad at how the end was written, but overall I did like the book. This story is VERY YA, so be prepared for eye-rolling teenage angst. I think it has the right message about realization and how even in high school friendships can change. 3.75 out of 5.

This collection of short stories by James Hanna was pretty absurd and I enjoyed most of them. Each story has some kind of criminal justice theme and two stories (at least) are more than fiction. Trigger warning for implied rape, murder, drug use, and violence. If you like Satirical and Absurd this is a good collection for your TBR

It was an good audiobook. Nothing you haven't heard from a self-help book before, but I liked the examples she gave; more current. And I loved her less than perfect reading. It doesn't warrant a second listen, but it was still pretty cool.

Here is a great book for elementary and middle schoolers.
Jonathan has to survive a change to middle school, bullies, labels, a principle, and homework! Not to mention losing his best friend.
Sixth grade really is the worst.

As much as i love YA stories this one was not my cup of tea. I was getting so frustrates with the potential not possible love story. I peeked forward and realized the story didnt create any burning questions so i just let it go.

I appreciated it was a classic, but the breakneck pace of the story was bothering me. The internal voice of the main character was too much for me.

So this was "rec" by a podcast I was listening too, and it was hailed as like a different look at the same kind of concept of the Love Languages. Or maybe it's more that the two are different sides of the same coin? Anyhoo. I'm slowly chipping away at it. No real truth bombs have been dropped yet but its an interesting concept.

A spat and hurt feelings turn the last days of summer into a war between this brother and sister. The ending (between chapter 13 and 14) was rushed but it got the point across and had a great message. I really liked this book. My 3rd and 5th grader were reading it for school and I read a long. Nice story great lessons. Highly rec! I will be having them read book 2!

This book picked up, and I started really liking it. I realize it wasn't the writing I wasn't loving; it was the main character. Very manipulative...not entirely reliable. In the end, I would give this book 3.99 stars. I think it helped that I finished it with the audiobook.

The way the events of one tragedy swallowed and even effected the first stratergy was genius!

It was an easy read. Just flip to a random page and let it motivate your day. A few sayings prompted some writing (the green slips?) So for that it was worth the read.

Mix feelings about this book. The Bible scriptures seem to stand out but then are not used later in the book. A lot of this books is likely still relevant here ten years after publication but it gets dry to read after a while.

Hope I can get it done before I have to return it to the library. I read the first three chapters in the book but busy life got it returned before completed, and man is this book hard to get again. Took forever to checkout. I've been waiting on this audiobook for like eight weeks!

An interesting thought process of a sixteen-year-old who is dealing with a lot.

As I was reading, I almost decided I didn't like it because it was getting angsty, but something about it kept it from just barely not going that way, and I think it is all of the supporting cast of the main character.
In the end, it just turned out to be a good read. You will have some questions in the end, but it was an excellent journey to go down.
