Can you tell I absolutely adore this author?

I‘m ecstatic NetGalley granted me a copy of The Examiner, which is not due out until September.

I started it last night, stayed up way too late, am about 60% in, and can‘t wait to get back to it.

Oh, and I also preordered it today during BN‘s preorder sale. #netgalley #arc

MonicaLoves2Read I have never read her. What genre does she write? 4mo
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage @Monica5 She writes mystery and it‘s very unique - all emails and chat messages. 4mo
MonicaLoves2Read @Booksblanketsandahotbeverage I love mysteries. I will have to give her a try. Do you have a book I should start with, or can I just start with any of them? 4mo
See All 6 Comments
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage @Monica5 The Appeal is more cozy - about a small group of theater people in England, and The Christmas Appeal is a follow up to it, a Christmas novella. You could start there - Appeal was her first. Then Twyford Code, which I also love, and includes translated audio files. The Alperton Angels is a little more intense, but I love that one too. 4mo

We‘ve made it to the Gump, one of my favorite parts of the Return to Oz movie, which I recently learned is a mashup of Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz.

This section also provided a noteworthy quote from the Scarecrow: “That proves you are unusual and I am convinced that the only people worthy of consideration in this world are the unusual ones. For the common folks are like the leaves of a tree, and live and die unnoticed.”

To buy or not to buy? 🤷‍♀️

The facts:
1. I already have at least one copy of all three.
2. I have read the first one (Darker Shade of Magic), but not the other two yet.
3. I‘d like to be inspired to read them before the new one comes out..

Thoughts?

Update: I didn‘t buy them this time. 😄

ChaoticMissAdventures As someone who has box set of multiple series that have been sitting on my shelf for a few years... I don't know if buying would inspire me to read them - Looking at you Shadow & Bone. Also I would be worried if they are not all out yet they might change the covers later, and then my set would not match. 1y
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage @ChaoticMissAdventures lol! Yes, i‘ve only read the first shadow and bone book too… these new covers match the new Thread of Power series coming out this year. 1y
ChaoticMissAdventures @BookHoarder32 you read one! My copies are literally still in the wrapper! I bought the whole series when the tv show was announced and it is just sitting there. But I also feel like buying books is a different hobby then reading books... and I love people supporting bookshops! 1y
See All 6 Comments
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage @ChaoticMissAdventures Yes! Two separate hobbies for sure. Did you watch the tv series? I didn‘t. 1y
ChaoticMissAdventures @BookHoarder32 I watched the first maybe one and a half episodes and had zero idea what was going on, so stopped.... but I don't watch a ton of TV so it might just be me. 1y
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage @ChaoticMissAdventures I don‘t watch much new tv these days. As far as shows based on books, I would want to read them first too before I attempted to watch them. Or if I have read them, I‘m afraid they‘ll massacre it. Like I‘m so scared to watch the upcoming Percy Jackson series on disney+. 😱 1y

I spent the weekend in the OASIS. The first one was as good as I remembered and in the second, I felt a little bogged down by the pop culture references (seven shards vs. three keys), and the ending left me a little disturbed. But I don‘t read much sci-fi, so maybe that‘s the norm?

Finished my #bookspin. It‘s going on the keeper shelf because I‘ll probably reread it at some point, as I liked the fantasy aspect and I rushed through it this time, but I may be getting too old for these YA/teen books.

I have nieces the ages of Jani and Zosa, and I kept thinking: that‘s a little young to be on their own.

Also, the switchblade finger? What was that? (Not sexy.) Ok, rant over.

 @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks I'm glad you enjoyed it!! This was a book that I felt like should have been a duology at least. There was so much potential world-building (and character building) that we just didn't have time for, so I was left with questions. But I did like it, and the edition is so pretty!! 2y
