I can‘t help it, I love her. She‘s badass powerhouse of my kind of Jesus champ with all the goodness and love and kick in the pants, I probably need. If I had a lil angel on my shoulder, let her be the good witch KC!
#Nov2025 Book101 #NonFicNovember

Overall, a fun read. Color me impressed! I am willing to read the next book. But it was wobbly at the beginning, our MC is tough to cheer for - she is mean! Thankfully, she comes to realize attitudes can be changed. #Nov2025 Book100 🌟💯🎉
📸 Look at this incredible mailbox!! 📬

Happy 🎃 Halloween
I am bailing on this; the mood/tone and impending sense of doom has me scrambling for air and sunshine. I did an internet search for spoilers so I could know what happens and now I am glad that I will stop reading this. #hailthebail #lifestooshort #timeforacozyhappybookplease ! #Oct2025 Book99

All due to @xicanti - here we go!

I have had this book on my tbr since reading Gone Girl and seeing that the author has lived in many places that I, too, have lived. Today, I looked at my Libby for audios-available-now and decided this title works for this time of year. 🗡️🎃👻🔪

Such a good boy! #CopperBopper #DogsofLitsy Finished another on the goal to 💯
I listened to the first half and was able to tear through the second half in print (found it on the library clearing out for sale table - I will put it back! 😆) #Oct2025 Book98 #BookClubBook Mild pick, interesting (and very sad) US history, not sure execution of plot was entirely successful but an okay read. I am curious enough to read more by this author.

Who‘s looking forward to November?! 🙋🏻♀️
#NonFicNovember #TodayILearned #NFN 🗓️

New book in the house! Arrived by media mail today from @amyrabbitt in NC. Not sure when it will be in the rotation for actual READING; will try not to lose it to the shelves of somedaytime 🕰️ (Cool 😎 that she sent me her bookmark 🔖 of notes 📝)

A friend insisted I read this. The library comes through once again.

Next up audiobook, for book club.
📸 Finally made the Quince Pie! Quad of the filling, the top crust, then eggwash + sugar dusting, then final bake. Thought it turned out nice - will see later how it tastes. 🥧

So is TODAY a good day to pie? Uh, maybe. First step: prep the quince ✔️ Baked at 350 degrees for 20+ minutes according to an internet search 👀 🔍 🔦 and now in the fridge til I get around to doing the actual pie 🥧
🫤
I love this murder pie series! Involves a sequestered baking competition TV 📺 show; our MC works her magic to expose the truth.

Does the photo make you think, “Mmmm, pancakes sound yummy right now.”? It does me.
Soft pick, my favorite bits were the sometimes very funny lines and barbs and dealing with situations with a sense of humor, but. BUT, - and this is on me -, because I didn‘t realize it was a romance? Do I feel kinda stupid that I went in blind and didn‘t read the blurb? Yesssss.
#Oct2025 Book94

The weird fruit in the upper half of this photo are QUINCE and my hope is that I can make a pie out of these strange delicacies. And I started this book, second in a series - the first was really fun! Even if a bit … unconventional? Evil? Yep…

Absolutely loving this one! Pie in the first minute or two?! One of the characters is reading Crossing to Safety ?! Good stuff. Absolutely LOVING this so far.
📸 uh, lilacs are blooming? (Oct 18, 2025)

On way to go kidsit my grandnephew! Very possible that I will soon be reading a kids picture book of a green truck instead 🚜
#Oct2025 Book97 #ShortStories

I‘m so sad that I couldn‘t find the appeal in this European Groundhog day experience. I do not think I will be reading on. It took me forever, I stalled 20% in, finally got a bit caught up in some of the poetic paragraphs but powered through only because I admire y‘all and it‘s due back at the library tomorrow. I feel as trapped as the MC. Happy Red Wine 🍷 Day
#Oct2025 Book93 Note: my wedding anniversary is Nov 19. We will celebrate 37 years?!

Here Copper, pose with this book. Good boy 🐾

I laughed quite a bit but there is a lot in this that can‘t be laughed at. Journalist checks out, goes off grid, until his family needs him. The world is spinning out of control…
I will read everything Jess Walter writes.

#Oct2025 Book90 (tbh, this one was boring. And it didn‘t really have pie. 🤷🏻♀️)

#MondayMood {{{hugs}}}

Sort of historical fiction? Based on true events but entirely fictional characters. Overall a pick, only very tiny silly things annoyed me (you do not just boat home from an island off Connecticut to Provincetown MA in a couple of hours! You just don‘t!! And one convo really didn‘t “sound” right - like, why would she respond with “why?” at a particular admission, blahblahblah) - overall SOLID. I will read more by this author. #oct2025 Book89

“I can‘t bring you back to life, Hannah,” he said. “You can choose to live again, or not. But I can make you remember what it was like to be alive.“
Oo la la ❤️ Reading while football 🏈 on TV 📺

Raise your hand 🙋🏻♀️ if you are a fan of Ballerini!! How and why this book title came first to mind when I checked my Audible credits, I may never know but seeing who narrates? SOLD! And then I see Ann Patchett blurbs it. 👏 👏 👏

(Love it when the blurbs on the back of a book feature some of my favorite authors ✅

#Sep2025 Review! Favorite is West With Giraffes! Ten books for the month, 1 poetry, 1 book fulfills requirements to complete TWO reading challenges, 4 nonfiction, 2 stories (perhaps 3) based on true events, 2 by foodie authors, 2 children‘s books, 5 mention pie; only 13 books to read to reach my 💯 books by year end! Happy October Dear Friends 🌟

Apparently, one benefit of joining the Kansas City Public Library is this “Lucky Day” feature. I am not one to read “popular” books very often (the ones churned out by authors whose names appear on book covers in bigger font than the title 🙄) but perusing through the offerings, I found a Martha Wells! Squeeeeeeeeeeee

Look what my library just done did! Gave me notice of a whole slew of titles now available on Libby!!!! VERY exciting 🎉 Happy (?!) Banned Books Week! #LibrariesMatter

I bought this for myself in a fit of “the world is a dumpster fire I need some joy please” 🥧

Book club book even tho I can‘t make it to the meeting in October.
Copper was willing to nap 💤 next to this one. #DogsofLitsy

This is both simple and complex: mindfulness is everything.
Copper, however, is having none of it. #DogsofLitsy

A penpal told me this is SO GOOD! And since I just finished my audiobook and have a credit to burn 🔥, let‘s go! Timing is everything. 🎧📚📝

Yep, I cried. 🥲 I thought this was almost too intense at times! I was so concerned for “the darlings” even as I KNEW that they would make it all the way cross country on treacherous roads from NYC to San Diego. This one touched my heart good. Now I need to go see giraffes!🦒

Am motivated to get all my affairs in order as well as know what really needs to happen when. My niece is going through this situation and it astonishes me how one assumes things but have no idea of the logistics. For example, a company that offers 2 times salary life insurance… how and when is that distributed, does it get considered into probate, etc etc. I think I will purchase this - does anyone know of a more recent guidebook?

Picked up from the library today! (And can I also say how heartwarming it was to see so many kids at the library when it is a rather pretty day in September with SO many choices for a Saturday.)
Big THX to @Nutmegnc for the tiny book / rec. I have more poetry to read after looking up the authors mentioned 💖
I had to go to two libraries for my pickups since I frequent both and can never know which hold comes up when 🤷🏻♀️ 😂

1. Thich Nhat Hanh; I am making progress on this book.
2. My new Princess Flower plant.
3. Hub fixed & painted chairs for my lil round table.
4. Double rainbows
5. Fountain pens make writing all my penpals even more joyful.

Just a lil sip of prosecco as I update all my book sites with latest reads… #audiobook 🦒🦒🦒
Wow! This book starts with a bang 💥

Copper agrees to pose with a book! He‘s been demanding today, guess he is excited for Football 🏈 Sunday? This book had a few good moments and some head-scratchers. Perhaps I need to actually be familiar with Frost‘s poetry and philosophy.

Thank you @Nutmegnc for the adorable tiny book replicas! I have added these two titles to me tbr-soon list 🤩
I tried to create this image to show how tiny these are! She also sent me 2 others for books I‘ve read and I am going to send on to my friend Amy, (hope Megan won‘t mind!)

I just love Rachel Joyce. Her books entertain and make me feel all the feels and inspire me to be uniquely me while cheering for all of humanity. 📣🎉 #Sep2025 Book80 #listenREAD #LitPie #PieinLit #iLovePie #MincePie #MeatPie #PalmTree 🌴 🪲 🥧 #iFoundaPalmTreeFree2MeOntheCurbandtookithome

“It occurred to Margery that she didn‘t just dislike the man, she loathed him.”
(Funny thing about voice to text is that there is no way it can capture how to hear the word “loathed”. 🤷🏻♀️) #greatword
