#Chatterday

I‘m enjoying my visit with my sister. I‘m staying with her this weekend after her cataract surgery. I‘m a little nervous about leaving tomorrow and having her drive herself. Next week I come back for surgery her other eye!
Luckily my son lives in the same town, so I got to see him also.
I‘m reading Eight Hundred Grapes 🍇 🍷 and enjoying it.

tpixie @dabbe thanks. It‘s good to be with my sister! She‘s a widow and I just can‘t have her be by herself after a surgery … she probably didn‘t really need me too much, but I think it is comforting for her to have me here. I‘m not certain so feel comfortable to drive tomorrow… it‘s weird after cataract surgery, you don‘t have glasses that work right for you. And she can‘t get a correct pair until four weeks after her next surgery next week. 1mo
dabbe @tpixie I went through the same thing with my mom, though she was able to stay home and didn't drive. You'd think the docs in this day and age would be able to do something for just this situation! I'll be keeping my 🤞🏻 that all goes well. 🩶🩷🩶 1mo
tpixie @dabbe thanks! Seems like first surgery was good. The 5 weeks of the wrong glasses will be tough! I‘m sure your mom was so grateful for your help 🩵 (edited) 1mo
dabbe @tpixie I'd like to think she was. Thanks for that, m'dear. 🩶🩷🩶 1mo
DogMomIrene A neighbor of ours had cataract surgery a couple years ago. Her son drove her for the actual surgery, but we drove her for the follow up. Does your sister use Uber or Lift? I know they‘re not ideal services, but in a pinch they may work. 1mo
tpixie @DogMomIrene she can use uber. We talked about that. I had to leave yesterday because I work this week. And then I‘ll be back on Thursday for her second surgery. She did have a Friend drive her to bridge yesterday. Hopefully she knows her limits 1mo
DogMomIrene @tpixie Sounds like she does! And I‘m impressed with how quickly people recover from cataract surgery these days. I remember my grandmother having multiple surgeries with long recovery times and not always great results. Sending her some healing vibes. 1mo
tpixie @DogMomIrene thanks! Great news! 🗞️ she went to where she buys her glasses regularly & he‘s going to set her up with a pair of clear lenses on top & readers on the bottom with 1 of her old pairs of glasses. For free! She‘s been a loyal customer for a long time. Great customer service! She did drive there & was nervous about it & now she has a headache and is a little nauseated. The clear glasses on top I think will help with that! (edited) 1mo
DogMomIrene @tpixie That is great news and customer service! Also pretty clever solution. 1mo
tpixie @DogMomIrene 🦚🦚🦚 have a great day! I‘m dragging myself from my book to get ready for work! 1mo

Eight Hundred Grapes 🍇 was the 1st book of this author that I wanted to read- but it turned out to be the 3rd book of hers that I‘m reading. She may be becoming a favorite author of mine!
Did you know it takes 800 grapes to make one bottle of wine? 🍇 🍷 🍇

I was surprised by this. I thought it would be Italy or France.

Book 19 of Elm Creek Quilts series. Setting is California wine country in early 1900s. Rosa is married to an abusive husband but is in love with Lars who is related to Henry and Elizabeth Jorgensen. Elizabeth is an older cousin of Sylvia who settled in California . Fascinating story amid the years of Prohibition.

Prompt: WINE

Did you know it takes eight hundred grapes to make one bottle of wine?

An easy, enjoyable read.  I liked the information about vineyards because we have a grape arbor, but nothing that would turn our grapes into wine.  :)

Will appeal to women's fiction fans.  The writing was breezy and fun, but the plot was a bit predictable.

5/5🌟 Full of emotion, secrets, and knowledge about making wine; which is a nice bonus if you love visiting vinyards. This reminded me of a good family drama movie where everyone gets together and there is laughing, crying, life lessons, secrets, and dysfunction set in cozy California wine country. I really enjoyed the sentimental value & nostalgia of childhood and family tradition.🍇🍷

Mehso-so

This started really slow for me and while I live a messy family, one that just doesn‘t talk to each other makes me nuts. This was mostly so-so for me, but she did keep me reading and I did enjoy how things ended. I definitely preferred The Last Thing He Told Me. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks I haven't read this one, but I know in some books the lack of communication just feels like a plot device. If characters have a genuinely good reason for not talking to one another about something, I don't mind it, but when any normal person could solve the issue with one let's-clear-this-up-chat, I get pretty aggravated. 2y
