Pope Francis recently unsealed previously private archives and Kertzer presents previously unpublished material to add to the timeline to show more of what it seemed Pius XII was truly focused on. It‘s a balanced book that shows an Italian perspective on the war. Very well done!

I thought this would be 5 ⭐, but the frequent mentions of 'when I was researching this book' (or similar) took me out of the story, which is disappointing. The last 2 parts aren't as interesting as the first two as well, but still a pick!

Quite good news for me today while listening to this audiobook, I learned it will work for my #readingeurope2020 challenge for #VaticanCity. I already had a book picked out, but that‘s ok, this one is so good so far!
pickThere needs to be a category above Pick. This was a brilliant book, captivated me from first page to last, great characters, great plot, great interaction, suspense, tension etc etc... The books in this series just get better and better, and this one is rated 4.21 on Goodreads but ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️ for me! Pick up this series! What are you waiting for!
