Okay, so this is my new #currentlyreading for today's #augustphotochallenge #augustofpages. Looking forward to this quick glimpse into Auri's life, a unique character from his Kingkiller Chronicles.

I may also plug this author as my #underhypedbooks for yesterday. All should read Rothfuss. I'm not even a fan of fantasy, and I love him and Scott Lynch, author of the Gentleman Bastards Series. Both stellar reads!

#underhypedbooks. Yes, it's a hilarious coming of age, but the writing. Lubar plays around with literary devices and dances with wordplay. Under hyped? If you haven't read it, then, yes it was. What are you waiting for? This one makes you laugh while tugging at your heart. I wanted to stalk David after reading this, I loved it so much. 😳. But I didn't! (But I wanted to.) 😉 {I couldn't blur anything out cuz it's all good.} 😀

#underhypedbooks Probably my favorite book about the AT or trail hiking in general. Davis takes on the feminine version of Odysseus as she hikes the trail alone with very minimal help. Definitely an inspirational book and frequently goes on sale on Kindle. Cool fact: on a later hike, she sets the women's speed record on the AT. 👏🏻👏🏻 #Augustphotochallenge #augustofpages

One of my favorite #underhypedbooks is the YA fantasy. I'm not generally a YA reader, but I loved the audiobook version. Yelena has a choice: either die or become the taster for the King. Her process of learning poisons and the ways she utilizes the knowledge are fascinating.

I've been meaning to read the rest of the series too!

A writer I like very very much who I would consider to be underhyped is Wayson Choy, a gay Chinese Canadian novelist and memoirist, now pushing 80, whose books have never gotten the attention they so richly deserve--especially outside of Canada. I would suggest starting with The Jade Peony (a tender, meditative, coming-of-age novel set in WWII-era Vancouver) and going from there.

One of my favorite #underhypedbooks is this lesser-known L.M. Montgomery (pictured with her under-hyped Emily series- Anne gets all the glory!). I love this book so much. "Old maid" Valancy (I think she's 29 ?) gets a terminal diagnosis and it inspires her to go out and LIVE. She starts saying all those things she's always wanted to say and finally breaks away from her overbearing family's stifling expectations. ???#augustphotochallenge #day26

I read The Accursed Kings in Hungarian a long time ago. It is mindblowing - the intrigue, the action, the incredible research. It is fascinating that the 100 years war was ultimately the result of a Queen's infidelity... When I came to the US, I found they were not even translated! Now they are - George R.R.Martin endorsed the series as "the original Game of Thrones".

He is wrong. It is better.
