Y‘all. It has been A WEEK. I got power back this morning and it seems like it‘s sticking this time (after 2 days without power and 1 day of off/on power I‘m grateful for heat again). My water is still out and that‘s been fun. I‘m appreciative I made it through #snowpocalypse with my health intact and the kittehs seem to be doing all right as well. Using today to come down from the anxiety and warm up #snowmageddon #catsoflitsy

How‘s everyone?

This is getting ridiculous. We have gotten more snow in one week then we have gotten in the last 3 years combined. #snowpocalypse #snowmageddon

This book is based on a play by JM Barrie, that inspired a movie by Hitchcock that never got made.
It‘s the story of a woman who disappeared as a child for 33 days - and doesn‘t remember anything from it.
Or does she?
Scottish islands, creepy houses, family secrets... this book has atmosphere in spades.
Enjoy it, and don‘t miss the Afterword to learn its connection to Hitchcock.

So my date with Michelle Obama was cancelled due to #snowmageddon in the #pnw 😕❄️. But that just means I have the opportunity to read lots & lots & lots while I‘m tucked away this weekend. I‘ve got lots of choices here - things for #192019 , some @gettbr picks, some #botmbacklist picks. The hard choice will be between hot cocoa or wine🤷🏻‍♀️

I wanted a change of pace from all of the non-fiction I have been reading recently & I was not disappointed. I found myself skimming through the middle, but the short chapters make it easy to pick up and set down, & the fast-paced story telling kept me guessing (incorrectly) until the end. I was skeptical at first that this would be your typical who-done-it story, but was delightfully surprised in the end. 3/5 stars.

If you enjoy an intimate glimpse into an unconventional childhood & a heroine who overcomes a number of life-changing external & conflicts, Westover‘s “Educated” is a must read. Westover‘s usage of diary entries to counter the memories she has does an excellent job of showing the complexities of human memory & how easy it is to edit painful memories as self-defense against traumatic incidents. 📖

A timely look at gun violence in a school. Difficult to read as a parent, teacher, and a human being. Nijkamp does a terrific job of making all the characters we meet believable, so their senseless loss cuts deep. Impactful. Important. And heartbreaking.
