This book is the definition of what a wonderful scifi story is supposed to be. A powerful MC, intriguing, well-developed supporting characters, an intricate, believable world, an intense fighting style, and drama that you could only wish for. At first I wanted to bail, but then couldn‘t put the book down!!
The wake of growing up in a dysfunctional family is very well depicted in the characters of the codependent narrator and her brother. Excellent psychological profiles!
John the Golden Child and Marion the Scapegoat or Lost Child both seem to be equally troubled in their adult life. I was pleasantly surprised and loved the book!

Volume 2 in the continuation of this story was even more intense and action packed than Volume 1. 😕😨😱 Fair warning, there is a lot of loss and heartache. There is even disappointment and shock. But there is certainly awe at the creativity and ingenuity of the author. Unfortunately, Volume 3 isn't done. Why did I wait this long to pick up this gem of a book?! I am so glad I did though. Because it had me shaking my head, almost crying with laughter, and nodding along with a stunned expression on my face. The stories hook you in. The way they are told are both ruthlessly self-deprecating and incredibly imaginative. Please read this book. I'm 50 pages from being done. This book is SO good. Also anyone else think that Kiaran reminds them a little bit of Rhys from ACOTAR? I'm so behind on updating my reviews on here.
