Another riveting compilation of shot stories each showing us a bit more of the man behind the white hare and wolf medallion.

I especially enjoyed the last two stories, but I'm bais because I love Ciri. I adore her feisty sprite and determination.

I am however now more than ready to be done with the short stories and be immersed in a full length novel

The planning of the actual rescue mission of the prisoner of war camp was thoroughly and meticulously researched from several primary sources. A must-read for those who want to know more about World War II in the Pacific.

Many trigger warnings -violence, massacre, torture, starvation.

Very memorable moment was during the rescue - the POWs were so traumatized that they had to be persuaded to leave. It broke my heart.

Everyone can make a difference. Even a small step against an injustice makes an impact.

This #Anthology of fictional stories for a #Teen audience shows characters from diverse backgrounds standing up for themselves, sometimes loudly and other times quietly. It takes lots of courage to do what some of these characters did to support themselves and their communities. A great book for a YA discussion group!

Iris Origo writes this for herself, not for publication, in the years 1939-40, living in Italy and married to an Italian, but of British and American parentage she has a unique perspective on the war brewing in Europe. So well written that after finishing it, before writing this, I went online and ordered two more (tagged in comments.) I could do worse than take her as a model for how to get through the next regime. #LitsyAtoZ #letterC @Texreader

Lcsmcat If you‘re not conversant (as I am not) in the details of the beginnings of WWII, or early 20th century Italian politics, prepare to do some Googling. She wrote this for herself so people and events aren‘t always explained. 22h

3.75/4⭐️(between very good and excellent)

Characters are great. Atmosphere and world building is really amazing and I love the magic system (spores). Plot is really fun and sweet. However, my engagement was only at a level three. It‘s really good but wasn‘t quite a page turner. The pacing wasn‘t consistent.

I remember as a child and seeing The Earth's Children everywhere. I knew just by looking at the covers that they were going to be great reads. I just forgot about them. Thank goodness they are in my universe again. In fact, I can't wait to finish reading the series just to start again. This one, in particular, is the best at survival in the wild - the Ice Age wild.

Loved this slow burn hockey romance. Nothing like a tortured hero. The plot really worked for me and I loved both of the main characters. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series. 4 ⭐

Informative and full of interesting titbits, but I learned that I prefer chronological narrative.
