Second read of Gay May! I liked this interdimensional novella a lot, but it‘s very much the first part of a serial rather than a full story with a resolution. It‘s always nice to spend time in Dunedin, though, and to meet toast-bunny-monster-pet thingies. #gaymay
so-soTrillin breaks off from an all-consuming, terrifying, hungry ALL to become an individual with her own wants, needs, doubts, and reservations. I wish she‘d spent less time trying to decide how many tentacles she should have and more time finding other things she loved, aside from Siân (the human witch & scientist who she found exploring her dimension). The resolution to the story feels isolating. But this was still fun!
My daughter has been obsessed with kiwi lately, so I‘m alway buying some. I thought it was cute that this kiwi is reading a book. 🥝 📚

This kids book is kinda famous where I live. It‘s a fantasy about monsters who live under mountains around Auckland, all of which are extinct volcanoes. I haven‘t read it but I saw the mini series back in the 80s.
The other two pictures are of my rock. (Not actually mine of course!) This is Rangitoto, a volcano I live in the shadow of, taonga (treasure) of Ngāi Tai and Aucklanders.
Since we didn't get to try any of the brownies I baked yesterday, my hubby asked me to prepare my custard cream fruit pie for him today. I always love decorating these! 😍
