The Mummy Case | Elizabeth Peters

Pickpick

While I am always delighted to visited Amelia and Emerson, this isn't my favorite of the series. Their son Ramses is, frankly, obnoxious. The mystery is a little shaky. And every ten pages we have to listen to Emerson expounding on why he's more intelligent than anyone who has ever believed in any religion. But outside of those annoyances, there is still so much to enjoy. The setting, the non-Ramses characters (in fairness, Ramses matures and ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) becomes one of my favorite characters later in the series), and Amelia's sparkling narration are all just so fun. A softer pick than some of the others in the series, but a pick nonetheless.

CarolynM I‘ve always thought you need to have known Ramses as a child to fully appreciate him as an adult😆 3d
TheAromaofBooks @CarolynM - This is the one where she gives him that speech impediment... I literally never have issues LISTENING to someone who has a lisp, stutter, or other issue with speaking out loud, but there is something about READING it that just really gets annoying 😂 I think she's trying to remind readers that he's only five or whatever, but either way I can't deal with how they just let him do whatever he wants/think he's clever for finding loopholes. 3d

TheAromaofBooks @CarolynM - But I do genuinely enjoy seeing the way his love for Egypt and its history is from a very early age onward 😂 And you can see where he gets his penchant for adventure and sneaking about!!! 3d
TheSpineView Fantastic!🤩📖📚 3d
Ruthiella I feel that Ramses has as a child displays the worst characteristics of his parents! 😂 But he does become more tolerable as he gets older and it occasionally allowed to finish a sentence. 3d

This one was between a so-so and a pick. At the First Edition Library, Hayley is the curator of Lady Fowling's collection of mysteries. On a quest to find the missing copy of Murder Must Advertise, that was signed by several Golden Age of Mystery writers, Hayley finds herself involved in trying to solve a murder instead.

Sea of Tranquility: A Novel | Emily St. John Mandel

I didn‘t know that this book should be read after The Glass Hotel and Station Eleven because even though is not a sequel per se but it mentions characters and situations from previous novels. In GoodReads didn‘t appear as a sequel🤷🏽‍♀️I‘m not a big fan of multiverse topic, so there were parts where I lost interest but that is because I don‘t like this trope. I found it repetitive specially in those parts about Gaspery situation. 3⭐️

I read three (3) novels for May #AuthorAMonth and I will say that I experienced a constant/the same situation in these 3 novels. Maybe is this author‘s writing style that is not completely for me. The premise is interesting, you want to keep reading, know more about characters but then during that plot development, I don‘t know what happened that I lost interest and found some parts boring. But then, you have an interesting ending.⬇️

Gissy I found all that Alkaitis drama (no spoiler) so interesting because is a matter of that criminal mind thinking process/dark side of human being. But then you have what happened at the hotel which I thought, really??? all that drama in so many pages and chapters🥱So, I was losing interest in many parts🤷🏽‍♀️The paranormal part was a little forced in my opinion. 3⭐️ 5d

Maybe I was a little disappointed with this novel but it was related with my expectations as a reader. I was expecting a story similar to Three Souls, which I loved, expecting same tone but it was different. Don‘t like much how that fantasy parts were integrated. But I still like this author writing style. 3.5/3.75⭐️

Narrated in two time lines. In present, Roya is in her 70s living in US. In the past, is almost 20 living in Tehran. She was happy, in love, engaged. But she was not accepted by her fiancée‘s mother and the political situation in the country was dangerous. What happened to Roya is related with family situation, drama, secrets, guilty debts that lead in betrayal, deception. A sad novel that shows that an emotional closure could be part ⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) of the healing process. I found the story so pretty. It is a slow pace read, character driven. Maybe Roya is a pessimistic, complicated character but she will transcend her past experiences. 4/4.5 ⭐️ 5d

It was entertaining but maybe I was expecting more from the main character. I didn‘t like the romance in the novel, maybe because there is a conflict of interest? Too soon? The mystery was okay but the closure...too easy/convenient ? Abrupt?🤷🏽‍♀️ 3 ⭐️ But I will continue the series, I own already various books from this series.

DieAReader I hope you enjoy the other instalments better❤️‍🔥🤓📚 5d
Gissy @DieAReader I hope so but I still like Dallas😃
