Listened again to this and got lost in the same spot. He starts talking about vanilla and it morphs into talking about ice cream and how it relates to vanilla, but also then Thomas Jefferson‘s 12 steps to make ice cream. I could have done without a list of every meat dish served at a medieval king‘s coronation or a list of several flavors of Oreo.

I actually finished this one today, but I listened while working and got distracted and missed things. It was interesting. I love my food history. I‘m going to listen to it again tomorrow so hopefully I can absorb more of the information.
This just in, medieval brits ate senapssill

The husband and I ventured to a Korean BBQ restaurant and had a feast! Lots of veggies and meats, our favorite was the bulgogi beef. We also had the Korean fish shaped pastry filled with red beans and fried rice cakes with powdered sugar!
And the other day I made cheesy Korean corn (bottom right Pic), it was delicious!

This is a good installment in the Edible series -- some of them are a bit drier than others, but this one seemed genuinely enthusiastic about ice cream, and not too pedantic about how X counts but Y doesn't blahblahblah.
It's illustrated and has recipes, like the others, and makes me wonder if we should try making ice cream at home... just to see what it's like.
I love the “Edible“ series, and got this new one for Christmas, sooo when I was restless and couldn't decide what to read, I decided to grab it.
...Mostly right now I am really craving some vanilla ice cream, which was a predictable outcome.
