I bought it because of the cover. Who could resist that deliciously baroque-looking manor?

Guanzon has set up a fantasy world which is easy to step into and get lost in. Her writing style allows you to flit between the equally confused feelings of Talasyn and Alaric whilst tiptoeing through court politics and fragile alliances. An enjoyable read, I will be looking out for the next book in the series.

Treasure Island meets Pirates of the Caribbean with teenagers/young adults who are just as cut throat as the adults. It is a great coming of age story Young doesn't spend time filling the pages with adults telling teenagers they should do this or not that, she gets on with the story. New & old characters clash in this story with twists and back stabbing plots as the ghosts from the past haunt their every move

JaneyWaneyB @AkashaVampie the covers grabbed me too 🤩 The story is about a girl left to fend for herself on an island by her father after her mother dies in a ship wreck. Fable is a dredger who finds gems in the reefs & sells them to pay for passage off the island. Fable's thrown into a world of traders, sailors & ruffians whilst finding out who she truly is & what she's capable of. Really enjoyed these books and recommend 🤓😍🤩 4y

Wicked Plants: The Weed That Killed Lincoln's Mother and Other Botanical Atrocities | Amy Stewart

While waiting on the next Kopp Sisters‘ book, I‘m going through #AmyStewart‘s BackList. I‘ve listened to and read the Drunken Botanist (I wish she were here making all these drinks for me) and Wicked Plants. Now to start Wicked Bugs!
The books are fun and informative and the covers are gorgeous!

tpixie @Chrissyreadit convol answer: The audio is actually pretty good but the plant pictures are fun to look at. I‘m not good at memorizing what plants look like though so it was OK. The drunken Botanist has great cocktail recipes if you drink. If you don‘t drink I think it would be a hard one to listen to or read because it left me wanting to drink the cocktails 🍸 I don‘t have a lot of time to sit down and read but if I did the book would be better. (edited) 4y
