panI‘ve read two other books by this author and they were pretty good. This one sucked. Khayyam was a hypocrite who I didn‘t care about at all. Who gets mad at someone for cheating on them while you are literally cheating on them back? It was a harsh comparison to a woman from 200 years ago who was risking her life for her one true love.

so-soThis is a typical Dumas. Lots of action. Plenty of ridiculousness. This one honestly wasn't as exciting as some others. And there's a lot less death and gore than normal. Actually, the only notable thing about it is that its theme is racism and it's the only book he wrote about it despite the fact that he probably experienced quite a lot in his own life. Also, this may be the first book I've read set in Mauritius.

It may be really nerdy but this book description annoyed me. I mean, if you don't know where Mauritius is shouldn't you look it up before you include it in the book description? I have no idea what edition this is from. I'm currently reading some generic French edition that spit out of Amazon for free.

pickThis is a YA art and literature mystery novel. It involves Alexandre Dumas, Lord Byron, Delacroix and Persian poet Omar Khayyam. It‘s set in Paris, a lot of famous spot name dropping but that‘s okay cuz I could visualize almost everywhere mentioned 🤣 and it felt like I went on vacation while reading this. It‘s a bit too heavy on the teenaged angst but otherwise I really enjoyed it
