A short but powerful read with very scary statistics around birth and motherhood for black women in the UK. #booked2021 #antiracist

A solid addition to the #antiracist discussion with a focus on how racism affects all, specifically against white people‘s own self interest. Topics like targeted universalism were fully presented as well as how racism ties to environmental health concerns. Really well researched.

This one‘s for the teachers.

This is the book our committee chose (after much deliberation) to begin our work with teachers in the district (K-12). The hope is that it will be less threatening for some than other books we have read.

There‘s a lot to process in this book. I read it slowly and had a Zoom book group discussion afterwards. I recommend both, if at all possible. DiAngelo moves readers through history, scholarly aspects, and lots of specific examples as she proves her thesis. When you finish, the problem of white fragility will be crystal clear. Now that I‘ve finished, I plan to 👇🏻

Wow. I feel kinda shook. My world view is being challenged- that‘s a good thing. By feeling like I grew with Ibram as he questioned his racist beliefs growing up and how to become antiracist today. I was not expecting to go through his life in the book, but it ended up being a good way to really relate to him. Everybody read it. #antiracist

Changing minds is not a movement. Critiquing racism is not activism. Changing minds is not activism. An activist produces power and policy change, not mental change. If a person has no record of power or policy change, then that person is not an activist. #antiracist
