This book was a lot different than I expected. Although I loved the idea for about childhood stories being real, there were some things that brought my rating down. It‘s nicely written, but I felt it was a bit too long. The first half was very slow, and I almost DNF. However, if you stick with it, the second half is great. Also, it reads more like a YA novel than a middle grade. But it‘s a good transition book.

Romance novels aren‘t really my thing, so it was a bit much for me. I feel like the whole Groundhog Day feel of the book really went off course midway through, like it was just a jumping off point for the story and not the focus. I felt kind of cheated. Also, people lift their chins a lot in this book, enough to make it feel weird. #readtheusa2020 #utah

pickTwo books in one - the first story wasn't remotely Christmasy?? It didn't even take place in the winter!! I think an editor must have decided that "Gabriel's Angel" sounded like a Christmas story and plopped it in here ? Book two was okay, but I hate the trope where a woman's like "oh teehee I had your baby nine years ago & didn't bother telling you!!" But it was short so I powered through, mostly because I was excited about checking ⬇️
