I'm a bit more than halfway through this but it isn't grabbing me. TBH I find it weird when European mythical creatures are transposed onto American soil. The protagonist is 16 years old and that seems to be the target audience. Slow going but not terrible. Megan does tend to jump into situations that have me going 'Stop and think!' but, hey, she's 16 🤗

pickThis controversial romance is brought up every month in my Romance Book Club.
I finally decided to see what the fuss is about 50 years after it was written.
Women in historical romances didn't have the freedom of choice most of us have today. They did their best with what they had, and sometimes, their womanly wiles were the only leverage they had.

I was really interested in the premise of this book and I enjoyed it up until the last quarter of it. The remaining quarter and ending felt sudden and abrupt, and felt like a bit of a let down. I also found the main female protagonist annoying and frustrating at times. Overall, I had high hopes for this book and it definitely fell short.
This morning Sneaky Casey stole a pillow and hid behind BIRDING WITH BENEFITS, which is a lot of fun so far. I love it when something that‘s marketed as a romcom is actually full of jokes and wacky hijinks! (Publishers do seem to be getting better about this.) I‘m excited to read more later this afternoon. Hopefully I can finish it tomorrow so the next person on the holds list gets a go.

It was still incredibly tense, distressing, and harrowing.
However, most of the twists I foresaw this time around. I wasn't as taken aback by the events as I was with the previous two books.
Still, I'm anxiously trying to make time to read the next book.
