At my husband‘s suggestion after talking about quiet fiction…..I‘m going to start this one.

It‘s a crying shame lilacs wilt so quickly after cutting because the fragrance is divine.

Aimeesue I spent two weeks going out back (with the dogs, so I didn‘t look weird) and hanging out by my tiny lilac bushes so I could huff the blooms. 😂 They‘re tiny and this was the first year any of them bloomed - I was thrilled! They‘re gone too fast. 7mo
LeahBergen I love lilacs! Ours have yet to bloom in my part of the world. 7mo
Ruthiella I found this book to be a weird one. I look forward to your thoughts! 7mo

Tamra @Aimeesue nothing weird at all about huffing lilacs IMO. 😆 7mo
Tamra @LeahBergen wishing you fragrant blooms soon! Spring in the north is so unreliable. Not my favorite season, but I take anything I can get. (edited) 7mo
Tamra @Ruthiella let‘s see how far I get.🤞🏾 (edited) 7mo
Cathythoughts Now that the lilacs are in bloom. She has a bowl of lilacs in her room 🥰 7mo
sarahbarnes Lilacs are my favorite flower. I agree with you. 7mo

The prospect of Internet Archive closing is devastating. When you don't have access to good libraries(or any libraries),it's a wonderful resource and provides you with a wide world of books, several not easily available. These are just a few of the incredible books I've read from it.

I just finished my February #bookspin title, better late then never! ☺️

Slow to start, I almost gave up less than halfway through. But since I am reluctant to DNF any book I pushed through and was pleasantly surprised by a wonderfully poignant second half. The writing is lovely and the descriptions of Cornwall itself are so vivid and add to the atmospheric nature of the book. I especially enjoyed reading about young Olivia during WWII. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

It‘s been a wonderful Thanksgiving week, and tonight I‘m thankful for a quiet evening with good food and a book. This book‘s been on my list for a bit, and I finally started it today. So far, other than not particularly liking the narrator‘s mother, I‘m enjoying it and the descriptions of Morocco.

Daisey Well, maybe I should have waited to post as I decided to just go ahead and read the rest of this book tonight. It‘s an interesting perspective, watching the mother‘s actions and seeing the journey through a child‘s eyes. I often disliked the mother‘s choices, but I thoroughly enjoyed the tour of Morocco. 2y

It‘s a very good book about some American travelers that run in to trouble in the Sahara in the late 1940‘s. The only thing I didn‘t like about the story is that the ending is somewhat ambiguous for my liking.

Last night I made my first dish from the tagged book: cheese & sweet chermoula eggplant. I think my eggplant half was a little too thick; the top layer was delicious, but the chermoula didn‘t add any flavour to the bottom, even though I crosshatched the vegetable‘s flesh. Next time, I‘ll try to really dribble the sauce down into the creases and see if I get a better result.

tpixie Looks delicious. Good luck next time!! 2y
xicanti @tpixie I made it again tonight and got much better sauce distribution. Hurray! 2y

Three foodie books I‘ve read & enjoyed #RelatingToWater 💦 (or with water in their titles).

Clwojick I‘ve heard so many good things about this one, but I‘ve yet to read it. 2y
