enjoyable series. I like reading about Veronica and Stoker‘s relationship, their amusing banter and sleuthing adventures. In this instalment, there‘s an Egyptian curse, a missing diadem, and a missing man that put Stoker in a difficult position. Full of fun and intrigue!

Yay! It‘s challenge finishing season! This was a little adventure called #memoirsandmysteries or #mandmchallenge. I created it to nudge myself into these genres. I buy a lot of them and then kept reading other things. As of last week I‘ve officially finished!!

What 2020 reading challenges are you almost or completely finished with??

The author is a #celebrity of sorts- a writer, journalist, LGBTQIA+ activist, popular on social media, has written on race, gender & culture for many publications, & this book was optioned for tv. This memoir is about his growing up navigating queerness & being Black. He talks of his ‘queer-affirming‘ family, identity, toxic masculinity & more. The essays felt honest, down-to-earth..they made me sad, made me smile..ultimately a hopeful read.

When I put the #memoirsandmysteries reading challenge together for myself last year, I included a #classic prompt. My full intention was to read some Sherlock Holmes, since I enjoy the fan fic that people write and also the BBC show. But ... now that I‘m here ... I just can‘t read a white guy book right now. Instead I‘m going with this book, since I‘ve revived my independent yoga practice due to the pandemic. It‘s certainly unique!

Not in the love camp. It wasn‘t bad, I enjoyed the creepy feel, the gothic atmosphere, and the suspense but it wasn‘t great. I enjoy reading books with no clear conclusions but the ending felt rushed. I also didn‘t like the big reveal of Rowan‘s backstory which didn‘t do anything to the story.

This was the little challenge I set up for myself back in January. I shared it and a few of you joined in. It‘s not too late if you‘re still open to challenges. Here‘s where I am so far ... red boxes are completed books. I‘m happy with the progress but not sure I‘ll read Holmes for the classic. Might try something more diverse instead.

This is one of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors. It tells the story Jack & Algy and their ridiculous attempts to maintain their fake Earnest personas while trying to get engaged 💙

This is a nice little locked room mystery. Hastings and Poirot are on a holiday in Brighton, staying at the Grand Metropolitan Hotel. When an expensive pearl necklace belonging to the wife of a stockbroker is stolen, Poirot puts his little grey cells to good use. An enjoyable short story.

I really enjoyed this disturbing book. This book centers around a group of kids, that are reminiscent of the Losers Club in It, that found a headless body in the woods by following chalk drawings. Chalk drawings that are similar to the ones that they had been using.
