I have been reading her Princes of Sin series, which is tangentially related, so aside from the fact that I have kind of spoilered myself & I‘m trying to reckon the Princes I know… I liked it, the worldbuilding is good, Emilia‘s depiction of grief was so visceral, Wrath… I‘m not sure about what‘s going on with his motives here -but 🥵. Too much happens at the end, &things that seemed like a big deal fizzled, plenty for the next 2 books to resolve.

BookmarkTavern Gorgeous picture! 2w

This is a wintery novella that left me shaking my head🤦‍♀️A meteorologist predicts the storm of the century but no one will believe her. She needs data but her equipment is broken. She asks the local science teacher to help fix her computer. But as it starts to snow…they get distracted with each other. Forget about the incoming storm let‘s get it on! So ridiculous. The writing and story could have used some major work.

LiseWorks I'm reading this one next lol 2w

I‘m going on some long drives mostly for work for the next week. So I‘ve stocked up on audiobooks. When I‘ve finished the tagged book I‘m jumping back into the picks by @CSeydel for #trappedinaspookyhouse since I‘ll be trapped in my car for hours. They‘ll also work for #letterA and #letterK for #halloweenatoz

One of my favorite Zapata books. The only one I like better is The Wall of Winnipeg and Me. Great plot and characters. Fabulous prose and that slow burn to die for me. I wish every book I read gave all the feels like this. 5⭐️ all year long!

Di Franco writes a narrative that is empowering for kids with the message that everyone is different but everyone knows how connected we are. I loved the illustrations! #PictureBook #BBRC #LetterK

I would have called this book “The Osage Genocide,” because so many more were killed than justice addressed at the time. When oil was discovered under the reservation & the Osage became extraordinarily wealthy, laws were passed that treated the Native Americans as incapable of handling their own affairs. White men became their guardians, pocketing their overpriced fees & committing untold corruption. But that wasn‘t enough—the white men wanted ⬇️

Texreader to own the mineral rights. Finding complex methods of ensuring inheritance of these “head rights,” including marrying the “squaws,” the men set about killing as many Osage as possible. Old lawman then FBI agent, Tom White, from Austin & San Antonio, was brought into investigate. With a number of undercover agents, he untangled the dense web of evil. An excellent book. #litsyAtoZ #letterK (edited) 1y

Based on the true Knit In event in NYC in 1918, this story follows a young boy who is determined to beat the girls at knitting projects for soldiers in WWI. The end shares the facts about the knitting movement in the US and the real Knit In event. I had no clue about this, so I learned a lot! #BBRC #PictureBook #LetterK
