#refugees #junebookbug. Who would believe that the great detective Hercule Poirot began his life in England as a refugee. Poirot fled Belgium 🇧🇪 during the First World War. #christiecrimeclub. Photo credit Google.

Lizpixie One of my favourite Dame Agatha books. #christiescrimeclub 8y

Germany has a lot of authors, new and old. If you want to find #IndigenousAuthors in my bookshelves, you have to have a look at children's books.

PS: I know the Ardagh book was not written by a German, but the illustrator is German.

So the #junebookbug challenge today is #lgbtauthors. I never cease to be amazed by the creativity and genius of authors. That they can totally absorb my mind and bring me great joy is something I am really grateful for. Unless it's a biography or autobiography I do not understand the significance of knowing an author's sexuality or how they see their gender. I am pretty sure they don't need to know the same about me, the reader.

Cinfhen I think you raise an important and interesting point 🤓 8y
readinginthedark I don't think it's necessary by any means. I think of it kind of like I would in a literary criticism class: first, I just read it; then, I reread or think back on it from various angles (one of which would be the authors life). 8y

😍😍😍 Chose this for book club this month (2017 is our club's 20th Anniversary).

I Facebook messaged the author, who is a fairly well known Australian provocateur, inviting him to attend our meeting 🤣.

And got this response!!

(I'm choosing to ignore the spelling error 😊).

#Junebookbug #junemostanticipated #starstruck

Jeg Bet the error was his spell check thingy. Does that to me all the time. What a thrill to hear from him. Can't wait to read it. It's waiting at home for me. @MrsMalaprop 8y
