Wow, what a story! If I hadn‘t been at work while reading this I would have cried my eyes out at the end. What a beautiful but heartbreaking story of two sisters living in German occupied France during WW2. I believe they are trying to make a movie from this book but I can‘t see how they will fit such story into a 2 hr movie. If you like historical fiction, I definitely recommend!

‘Love. It was the beginning and the end of everything, the foundation and the ceiling and the air in between.‘

LoverOfLearning A heavy read but a great one! 3w

This was my first book I‘ve read by Kristin Hannah and I loved her writing style. Although this book was long, I never felt like she was drawing out details or over explaining things.
This book had so many great things going for it. The emotions of love, betrayal, anxiety, heartbreak and fear, it was an emotional roller coaster but so well written.

LoverOfLearning This was my 2nd book I read by her. A heavy read but so good! 3w

Didn‘t think I could emotionally handle another Kristin Hannah book, but I did it! Highly recommend.

Yesterday‘s op shop purchases after ballet. Grand total 🟰 $17. It was another fabulous day at my ballet school‘s Summer Intensive. Pilates to warm up then a repertoire class learning the Aurora wedding variation from Sleeping Beauty followed by a mindfulness session. Then home for a wine and stretch. I‘m pretty sore.

BethM That‘s super cheap! 2mo

I enjoyed the story; a bit overwrought. Book 9 of 2024

Ephemera Is the painting by Thomas Hart Benton? 12mo
BkClubCare @Ephemera - maybe?! I forgot to note it and couldn‘t find when I searched. But I do recall thinking Benton, but NO. Of course, I could be misremembering THAT, too. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 12mo

Hard but so moving.

One of the tougher WWII historical fictions I've read lately - but I hate when the war is romanticised so no complaints from me on that front. Each sister has such a compelling story that kept me listening.

Tamra What a lovely puzzle! 1y
