Bk3 of my #Scarathlon2020 #Screamathon2020 #Pageathon #Thrilloween #Sbooktober #Gothtober #RockyHorrorathon & #CYOReadathon is done! It covers the prompts of #HorrorOrThrillerByNewToYouAuthor #DevilsFoodCake #ForeignCountry & #FrankNFurter It definitely wasn‘t what I was expecting, but it was a very good read. Has you questioning what the truth is the whole time & the ending was a huge surprise. Highly recommend. 896pts for #TeamSlaughter🥳

vkois88 Sounds interesting! 7y
mrp27 @vkois88 It was a very interesting fantasy book filled with African mythology, diverse characters and magic. I can see how it is well received but for me I just didn't connect with the plot or the characters. 7y

@Jess7

While not my favorite Gene Wolfe novel, the author still rests comfortably in my top 5 of all time.

Can't get any more foreign than this one. A travel writer visits an imaginary and obscure European country and immediately loses his passport.

Chaos ensues.

Only Gene Wolfe can write like Gene Wolfe & his writing needs to be experienced to be fully understood.

Jabberwocky I have the tagged book sitting on my TBR staring at me, I really need to get started on it soon! 7y

"Before there was Downton Abbey, there was Abingdon Pryory..." This trilogy follows the Greville family & their household staff who reside at their English country estate, Abingdon Pryory, from the Great War, through the jazz age and into WWII. These books came out in the 70s & 80s but were reissued with Downton Abbey's massive success & the interest in British sweeping family sagas.

emilyhaldi I still need to watch Downtown Abbey 😬 so maybe when I do it I will read this trilogy!! Sounds great 👍🏻 7y
Dragon I read Passing Bells years ago , I didn‘t realize it was part of a trilogy. 👍🐉 7y

Cyborg Cinderella! I didn't read anything about this before I started, thinking, ok, it's a retelling of Cinderella, what do I need to know? A pleasant surprise. 👠

Set in the future, post-WWIV, in New Beijing. #ForeignCountry #ReadingResolutions

My pick for #foreigncountry is Pachinko, which I am currently listening to on audiobook. The story has so far taken me from Korea to Osaka, Japan in the 1930's. I am really loving this book and the story of this Korean family.

It was no Bridges of Madison County! But it wasn‘t a bad little read.

It was the fist book to pop into my mind for #ReadingResolutions #ForeignCountry Day 12 prompt. What I remember most vividly about this book is thinking ‘Well, I don‘t ever have to visit India now.‘

Inspector Joona Linna was born in Finland but has spent most of his life in Sweden. He‘s comfortable there, but it‘s definitely a #foreigncountry to me. This is a #dark and intricate story with lots of action and interesting characters. On the whole I liked the writing and narrator, but there were some threads dropped that irked me. Also some really despicable human beings and a peculiar coincidence that serves as a large clue. #readingresolutions
