Well I likedthis. Not the best book ever but filled a purpose and tied things up well!
I‘ve yet to read a Du Maurier book I‘ve not liked. This one perfect little book hit the spot just right! #pick #daphnedumaurier
Patrick Branwell Bronte has always been the least well known, yet in his early life he showed equal promise, being the main inspiration or “Genius Brannii“ of their early literary exploits.
I'm not convinced the evidence is strong enough that Branwell could claim even part credit for Wuthering Heights, but I did find Du Maurier's hypothesis about the rumoured love affair with the wife of his employer, being a cover story made sense. 3.5 🌟
A pretty good read!
I particularly like the way in which the book is split between narrators and time whilst telling the tale.
Some parts were slightly twee but offset by much more unexpected aspects...
I adore Daphne du Maurier and found this is a second hand bookshop.
In Signatures in Stone, I take up the question of psychic influence transmitted through art & locale across time to show how the primordial spirit of place moves our actions, colors our dreams, and fires our hearts. The novel also ekes out the fine line between illusions and reality, and illustrates how waking life, intuition, and dream are much more interfused than we normally admit.
