This was a solid read for #authoramonth. A bit overally long and melodramatic at times but still enjoyed it. 👍

Happy Sunday #AuthorAMonth readers! Happy Easter if you celebrate.
We are more than halfway through April already, and I hope you‘re enjoying this month‘s author Kate Quinn. Your reviews have inspired me to add a few of her books to my TBR.
A look ahead to May which will bring Percival Everett. Perhaps you are ready to place your holds or orders soon.
Happy Reading!
My first Kate Quinn and it was alright. The history is compelling but I was underwhelmed by the writing. 🤷🏻♀️

This maybe an unpopular opinion; however, I just couldn't make myself finish. Bailing at 35% read. I didn't care about the MC and the plot didn't get my attention. The whole thing felt like a slog. #HailTheBail #Read2025 @DieAReader
I was reading for #AuthorAMonth @Soubhiville challenge and was excited since I enjoyed Bardugo's other books. On to better things!
A found family set in a 1950‘s DC boarding house. I enjoyed getting to know each of the characters (including the house) although I think I would have liked it more if it were based on just one character. That‘s just a personal preference though and this was a good read overall. #AuthorAMonth @Soubhiville
5+ stars! Seven authors each write in sequence from the viewpoints of different people about Rome‘s occupation of Britain, and the attempt of a queen of one of the tribes to force them out. Queen Boudica did exist; her story was told by the Roman historians. But this book follows other characters (one per author): another queen, a slave (Boudica‘s husband‘s illegitimate daughter), a Roman tribune, a Druid, a son of an important character, ⬇️
This book is astounding, written by 7–SEVEN-authors, about Queen Boudica‘s rebellion against Rome in Britain. Review to come. But in the Author‘s Notes, I thought it amazing that one of the authors gives so much credit to our #authoramonth Kate Quinn! I‘m so glad I read this book; it‘s a keeper (which means I‘ll have to buy a copy). I wouldn‘t have read it but for #authoramonth but I also needed it for #letterY for #litsyatoz. It‘s extraordinary.
Getting kitty biscuits while listening to the tagged book, which is fantastic. #authoramonth @Soubhiville #litsyatoz #LetterY
I almost skipped April's #AuthorAMonth since I was underwhelmed by my 1st Quinn book. I remember liking The Rose Code, but nothing about it stuck with me. I didn't feel like committing to 500+ pgs for "just ok." But I'm so glad I decided to give her another try! Night Witches (Female Soviet WWII pilots), Russian lake witch lore, Nazi hunters, & an American stepmother with a mysterious past = an engrossing plot and great characters! @Soubhiville
