This was a surprisingly good read and goes into great depth about who Coco Chanel was and her stubborn determination. If you are a fan of historic WWII fiction I would suggest adding this to your summer reading list.

I have not been able to find time to read, with all these essays I have to write for school it‘s consuming all of my time! But I need a down time to let my brain relax and hopefully this book will be an interesting read so I can relax
I read this book ages ago, and I still think about it from time to time. Enthusiasm was all Chanel had in the beginning; surrounded by hunger and poverty. From nothing she rose to become a household name, a societal upgrade that taught her many things about the truth behind fame and riches. If you‘re remotely interested in fashion or the WWII era, I highly recommend!

Whilst I felt I never fully understood Coco Chanel or some of her motives, I thoroughly enjoyed what is a moving story of childhood poverty, sheer determination and, of course, real style. I loved the part Paris played in the story along with a whole host of other glamorous friends and elegant locations. I was also intrigued by her entanglement with the Nazis during WWII which I knew little about. Overall a great, intriguing read.
My sister is in Paris and I‘m incredibly jealous, so I‘m going to read about it instead 🤷♀️
Coco Chanel‘s humble and poor beginnings helped to define the woman she became. She was (and her house still is)an icon of fashion. The little black dress is because of her. While I didn‘t care much for the person portrayed in this book, I do admire her spunk and creativity. This is a good read.
I‘m interested to read this. I‘d read in another book that Coco Chanel may have been a Nazi sympathizer. I‘m hoping not, but we shall see. Her creative mind in couture is one of the finest.
This was a fascinating read! I learned so much about Coco, she was quite a woman. While I didn‘t love every paragraph in this book (some bedroom details could‘ve been omitted and the plot wouldn‘t have suffered. -Sigh- oh well, to each their own), I would still definitely give it four stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Snow whipping around outside (looks like we‘re up to 4 inches and more coming in the next few hours), but I‘m toasty inside with my coffee and book. Happy Saturday!!
“Where does one use perfume?” a young woman asked. “Wherever one wants to be kissed.” 💋💋

I thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in the world of Coco Chanel. A remarkable lady, and a testament to her that, years later, her name remains associated with simple, sophisticated style.
A true rags to riches tale, Gabrielle Chanel rose from the humblest of beginnings. Author did a great job creating a story behind the iconic brand. Chanel was an innovator and somewhat of an outsider full of doubts and insecurities but her strong will and stubbornness served her well. I especially enjoyed the historical aspects to the book, as Chanel lived through both World Wars. My curiosity involving her Nazi ties was fully addressed 👇🏼
Halfway through this novel, and I‘ve just read the origin of Chanel No. 5 Parfum as well as the introduction of Coco Chanel‘s famous layered pearls and her interlocking double C logo‼️ Love the back stories for these iconic symbols. How are you faring @Melissa_J ❓FYI: The C‘s do NOT represent Coco Chanel
#GetMovin Starting my day with GF homemade banana bread, an iced coffee and a side of Mademoiselle Chanel 💕#ThatsWhatILike
Starting this fictionalized biography of Coco Chanel. Curious to read about her humble beginnings and dubious choices....Nazi collaborator ??? Are you ready to delve in as well @Melissa_J !?!?
#Aprella #Famous for her layered accessories, beautiful knits & chain linked iconic bag Coco Chanel is and was a fashion powerhouse. I‘m curious to read this fictionalization of her modest beginnings and checkered past ( she was known to be a Nazi sympathizer )😫😡 I consider her logo the most recognizable in fashion....
#SeptemBowie I can't think of a more iconic or interesting #fashion designer than Coco Chanel 🙌🏻I bought this book for my daughter, who hasn't read it yet, and I totally want to ask for it back! I'm curious to read this fictionalized story of her younger years.
Ever wonder how Chanel number 5 became the famous perfume or how it got its name? What did Coco do during the wars? Which men? How? Where? When? Nicely written and I found it fascinating.
I must say I'm into this bio told in first person narrative. Wondering if I disliked Georgia (O'Keeffe) because it was told in third person or was the book just badly written? Anyway, this telling cruises pleasantly along.
A girl should be two things: who and what she wants"
Midway through MADEMOISELLE CHANEL & amazed by this woman's story. Adding it to my recs for #womenshistoryreads - literally rags (an orphanage!) to riches, and a testament to one woman's fierce dedication to her own dreams, expectations be damned. #womenshistory #cocochanel #herstory #chanel #cwgortner
Ummmm just figured out how to make an "Abandoned" shelf on Goodreads. How did I not figure out how to do this earlier??!! #gamechanger #DNF
I know I have more books with #dressesoncovers for #ReadJanuary. I'll probably find them tomorrow. 🙃
I have a new audio book for the commute 😁 It's, uhh, pretty sexy
I really enjoyed this. At times it felt like an autobiography because of the way it is written and the amount of research the author clearly did for this book. I knew/ know very little about Chanel but I found her story to be really interesting and now want to read a biography of her and learn some more.
An interesting biography that looks into how Chanel built a fashion empire & the characters that surrounded her as she got started. Reads like a novel: I quite enjoyed it : )
Pulling back to back night shift which is even tougher with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, so thought I'd spiffy up my socks. I think Coco would approve, don't you? #readingsocks #hubbybuysmecoolthings
Loving this biography of Coco Chanel! I've fallen for Boy... Balsan is such a terrible bore :(
