Finally finished this one. The cognitive dissonance of the afterword about the election win and transition period is huge, since no mention of the Russian hacking of the election is made in the book. So, this is a book that cries out for updating. That said, knowing what we know now allows for greater understanding of the campaign and its aftermath... worth the time to read it.

I'm on the chapter about the primaries. I can only listen to a few minutes at a time. "Once again the rules didn't seem to apply to Trump." This confounded me for a long time; now we know it's due to Russian interference... it's instructive to remember that when reading election coverage with the benefit of hindsight. Sigh.

#Octavia can't believe what I'm currently listening to... can't say I blame her, really. I want to be an informed citizen, though.

This book, now out in paperback, opens with the explanation about the time and resources the Washington Post dedicated to researching Donald Trump and that produced the evidence for this biography. Another book to #ReadPastFear and #ReadOutsideTheLines 👍🏼

Credible and comprehensive, still it only offers moderate insights into a man who has lived his life in the public eye for the past 40 years. The final portion is a recitation of the 2016 campaign, which if you care enough about to read this book you should already know all about, having just lived through it. So it didn't change my life or anything.
