If you haven‘t read any of the other “You“ books you probably think it‘s disgusting. About a man – a misogynistic man – who is so full of himself that you want to barf? You might even be tempted to DNF. But let me tell you a little something about Joe Goldberg, one of the most riveting psychopathic serial killers I have ever read about. Kepnes keeps her writing tight as she delves into the mind of this madman. Joe is the killer you love to hate.

I think there‘s a reason this 4th book in the Joe Goldberg series wasn‘t bought by my library: it‘s not that good. Santino Fontana is still a fantastic narrator, but Kepnes didn‘t take his story anywhere interesting or new.

Joe has been admitted to a writing fellowship at Harvard. Things take a predictable turn when he takes a shine to the other autodidact in the group. 🙄🙄🔪🩸

Yes, I finished reading the book but I didn‘t like it as much as the previous book in the series. It felt like the ending dragged a bit. No, I won‘t spoil what happened but I will say that I was a little disappointed. Will I read the next book in the series? Of course. I am 190 pages out of 382 into this book. Somehow I ended up pre-ordering two more books on top of the book that I started reading and this one how did that happen? The next Joe book in the series 😳

I don‘t care how many Joe Goldberg books Kepnes writes, I will read them all! In this one, Joe has landed a writing fellowship at Harvard. He finds his new obsession right away. This was probably longer than it needed to be, and although he went into stalker mode quickly, it took a while for him to get murder-y, and that‘s when I love Joe the most! IDK what that says about me, but whatever. A good installment in the series, but not my favorite.

I can see why people has some issues with this one… but I think having some this as an #Audio it helps. It gets into Joe‘s mind easier.

My goals for #MagnificentMay are to finish my current read (tagged book) and to read at least 3 of the others. I gave myself some wiggle room so that I could read by my mood. 😂

5-1-23: My 45th finished book of 2023! Book 4 in the Joe Goldberg series. I didn‘t love it. I hate that I didn‘t. I really enjoyed the last 3 books but I think I wanted this book to be like season 4 of the Netflix show and it wasn‘t. Joe has been chosen for a fellowship at Harvard. He has written a book and is workshopping it. And along comes Wonder and his obsession begins. I didn‘t hear the usual Joe voice in this one. It felt like a woman‘s.

Friends, I can‘t believe I‘m saying this, but Joe didn‘t work for me in the latest YOU novel from Caroline Kepnes. This didn‘t gel, the obsessive relationship wasn‘t convincing, and it felt rushed to meet a publication deadline with wayyyy more editing needed! Joe, don‘t hate me 😱
The only reason I continued on is because I‘m a diehard fan and if there‘s another in the series I‘ll need to know what happened in the 4th book. So disappointing 😔

This is finally out today in the US… but I didn‘t wait until today to get my hands on it. I can‘t exactly lay it all out here on the interwebs… but, oh, Littens, I‘d love to to tell you. And you‘d love to hear it. And Joe would love to hear how committed I am to the things I love. He loves a person with passion. Does he finally find The One in Wonder? I started reading this. I‘m 20 pages in. Man, I missed Joe so much. Don‘t get me wrong! I do watch the TV series and I appreciate that character for who he is but there‘s some thing about the book version of Joe Goldberg.
