#JumpStart2025 #Read2025

Read for #ChildrensClassicRead2025
I enjoyed the artwork in this version of the classic fairy tale. I went back & read the Grimm‘s version online to see the gentling down in the modern versions (like princes being banished rather than beheaded for not discovering the mystery). A quick & nostalgic read. 💛

InkedBookworm13 Have you read House of Salt and Sorrow? It's an amazing retelling of this story. 2d
DebinHawaii @InkedBookworm13 It‘s in my TBR! Maybe I need to move it up & finally read it. Thanks for the recommendation! 🤗 2d

#Naturalitsy #HyggeHourReadathon

Spending my #HyggeHour reading the tagged book for #ChildrensclassicRead2025 & since that won‘t take long, I‘m going to read The Answer Is No from @JacqMac ‘s #AuldLangSpine list on my Kindle. Noshing on dried cinnamon Fuji apples & drinking apple chai tea.

I‘m so not ready for another crazy work week & the general crazy that will happen starting Monday. 😵‍💫

This was my favorite fairy tale as a kid because of Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre. I watched her production of The Twelve Dancing Princesses countless times. I was so excited to find it on youtube:

I included a couple retellings in my photo. I'm reading Salt and Sorrows as a companion read. Kingfisher was from a few years ago.

I‘m getting an early start on my Litsy required reading for the month. I‘ve never read this one before. It‘s interesting and did not end the way I expected it to. Thanks for organizing @TheBookHippie ! 4⭐️

Since I don't remember what I read in my childhood, I again chose the original story for this month. This is a short story where a king's daughters wear out their shoes nightly, but the king has no idea why? What are his daughters doing at night to cause this? Of course the king proposes a deal: a man may step up for three nights to figure it out. Don't find the answer and your reward is death. Do find the answer and he will be rewarded with ⬇️

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick marriage to a daughter of his choosing to be the king's heir. This was cute enough but left me with more questions than answers and wraps up quite quickly.
Leave it to a King to let someone do his dirty work, am I right? 😁

TheAromaofBooks I was always a little confused about why the king didn't even TRY to stay the night with the girls like he has the suitors do?? It seems like an obvious solution 😂 4y

This was a kind and sweet sideways retelling of this fairytale. The heroine of the book is not a princess but the friend of a man who wants to break the spell and the hero is an elf trapped with the princesses. #romantsy
