Finished up 2023 with 36 books, 6 more than I had planned. Very happy considering I had a reading slump that lasted almost 2 months. Will I dare to aim for 40 books with a toddler?

My main target this year is to reduce my TBR list, I bought too many books last year because of the closure of book depository and now that it's so close to the 100s I feel guilty while still wanting to buy more books. Any ideas to inspire me to tackle my TBRs?

AllDebooks I listen to audiobooks while doing other tasks or activities. It took me a while to get into them, but it was so worth it. 10mo
Ruthiella Nice work! I find reading from what I own before buying new shiny things a challenge too. There a lots of ways to whittle it down, like making a TBR jar or committing to a stack (like #24in2024 ) . You just have to find the method that works best for you. 10mo
nanuska_153 @AllDebooks thanks for the tip! My library has a big audiobook catalogue I might look into it 10mo
nanuska_153 @Ruthiella oh I didn't know about the #24in2024 challenge. Thanks so much! That kind of adds up with what I had in mind and leaves me a bit of extra for free choices. Will definitely try to make a list 10mo

I‘ve now kept book journals for two years (on left: black-2019; blue-2020) so now I‘m hooked. So yesterday buying books for my swap recipients, I splurged and bought my book journal for 2021. I wish it weren‘t identical to 2020. It will be hard to tell them apart. Oh well.

StaceGhost You can always plaster them with bookish stickers! Of course, that‘s my response to any bare surface lol 4y
GingerAntics I like to number mine. I put a nice clear number in the top outside corner of the front cover. I have a friend that has paint markers and puts a number on the spine. 4y
Magslhalliday I‘m using the same notebook I started in 2016 - I must be doing something wrong! 4y

Every time i come to Litsy, I wind up at the bookstore buying books for my never ending TBR list. Figure I‘d get book journal too. I never write down what i‘ve read just star it on Goodreads and move on. Maybe this thing will help my bookish memory. #bookjournal #moleskine

I'm thinking about starting a physical journal to complement my reading log (mostly analytical data: pages read, total books, diversity of authors etc.) I don't actually keep track of my personal thoughts or great quotes or even new words I come across.
So littens, how do I get started? What do you find are the best pieces of info to include in a book journal? What's your favourite kind of journal to use? Im looking for all the advice/suggestions

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I'm so bad... I just use Goodreads and this year I'm trying this spreadsheet thing I heard about here and got off the web, mostly just trying it this year to see what kinds of summaries and diversity of books I get by year end. 7y
brilliantglow @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I have a spreadsheet and I love it. I use it to track all the books I've read, diversity of authors, average pages/book, total pages read (as well as per the last 5 years), total books read, total books DNF, genre, graphic novel/novel/novella, rating and whether I've lent the book out or not. Then I also have sheets to track my reading challenges. 7y
BookishMarginalia I'm with @Riveted_Reader_Melissa -- I'm super bad at keeping track, even on goodreads -- I always mean to, but 🤷🏻‍♀️ 7y

brilliantglow @BookishMarginalia we always have the best intentions lol 7y
BookishMarginalia Indeed! But I'm in awe of your system! 7y
brilliantglow @BookishMarginalia aww thanks! It was time consuming setting it all up to correlate all the data automatically but now it takes me about 5 Seconds to do an entry. I could email you a copy with all the necessary formulas included but my data removed if you'd like to give it a try. 7y
BookishMarginalia @brilliantglow Yes, please, Caitlin -- I would be grateful if you shared the spreadsheet with me. Setting that up must have taken a bit of effort! 💜 7y
brilliantglow @BookishMarginalia no problem! I'll send it to secret Santa gmail so you know where to look for it❤❤ 7y
BookishMarginalia 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 7y
bookwrm526 I do a sort-of bullet journal style, so it's very flexible. I try to put a little in there everyday, like if I start or finish a book, quotes or new words, reminders about new books coming out that I want to pick up, that sort of thing. I keep track of diversity stats and pages and things like that in a spreadsheet as well 7y

Late to the party. I tried to locate them all, but I have journals scattered around the house and in my office. The 2 journals in the foreground began in 2005 and are a list of books I've read or wanted to read #BookJournals #Riotgrams #IDontHaveAJournalObsession

I decided to keep a book journal next year to keep track of what I read, and quotes with ducks in it🐣
Would anyone of you read an ongoing series #duckquotes posts , where I post random quotes about ducks in (mostly) fantasy books?

The journal looks really cool and because of the alphabet tabs I must soon decide for the #LitsyAtoZ reading challenge.

Lindy Bring on the duck quotes! 👍 8y
Godmotherx5 OMGosh. Perfect for the challenge. 8y
drokka I think that would be just ducky. Is the colour of the journal teal? 😉 8y

I used to buy this book journal but found it not large enough to document all the books I would read in a year. I did love the layout though. I've had to buy regular Moleskine journals to keep track of what I've read.... Only been doing it 6 years. Wish I had started doing this when I was young.

Lindy Started keeping book journals in 1993, switched to Shelfari in 2008 (?) and still unhappy with forced transfer to Goodreads this year. Goodreads isn't as good, but I won't go back to paper. 8y
SusanInTiburon Logging my reading is one of the best habits I've ever adopted. 8y
Crash I used to use Shelfari as well, I hated it going to Goodreads, I started writing them down instead. 8y
