There is nothing like enjoying a Sunday reading and eating a tub of ice cream together. My son is reading Shiloh, and I'm so excited for him. I loved this book when I was little.

#NewberyEpicChallenge books for June!
📚 Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
📚 Miracles on Maple Hill by Virginia Sorensen
Enjoy!
I read this sweet, emotional middle grade book with my 4th grade granddaughter. She is an animal lover, so this was a perfect pick. Everything the book‘s main character did was exactly what she‘d do to save this dog from its abusive owner. Here‘s a silly meme that would make her and I giggle, along with a photo of her and their dog Buck. He‘s wearing a Yoda hat I crocheted for him at her request. (Not much of a review ... sorry!) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
My book was Shiloh. It is about a boy who finds a dog and takes him home. His parents don't want him to keep the dog, but he does anyone just in secret. He builds a kennel for the dog up in a hill. One day something brakes into the kennel and injuries Shiloh (the dog). They have to take the dog to the vet. boy keep dog in end. If you like a book thats cute, and involves man's best friend this is the book.
My son is having a Rough day having to read Shiloh for school. This book is tough because our dog passed last month. My little buddy keeps reading though! #raisingreaders
A young kid recently told me this was his favorite, so I told him I'd read it so we could talk about it.
Shiloh is a wonderful book about a boy willing to do whatever he can for a dog. While this isn't as profound as Where the Red Fern Grows, it's a terrific story for young readers to feel that amazing bond between a boy and a dog.

I got some new dog books from The Book Drunkard yesterday. Will these make me cry? I hope not! I‘m feeling pretty confident about Brute Strength but just reading the synopsis of Shiloh makes me sad!
“I swallow and swallow, and all the way home I can‘t speak a word, trying to hold the tears back.”
This is a intense and suspenseful story that will keep children on their toes and wanting to read more.
Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor is a realistic fiction book that was published in 1991. Marty Preston is an eleven year old who loves to spend time in the hills which are close to his home. One day Marty comes across a Beagle that is behind the Shiloh schoolhouse. Marty is thinking that the beagle is being mistreated and he thinks it is running away from his troubles. He gets frightened when he thinks of what to do.
Contemporary realistic fiction. This is a wonderful book for an older reader and a wonderful book to read aloud. I remember reading this and the other Shiloh books out loud to my sister and how fun it was to live through those words and the story with Marty and Shiloh.
Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, 1991. This is a wonderful story about a boy and a dog he loves and desperately wants to save. It‘s real and honest and every aspect of the book fits to the setting in which it‘s placed. You feel like you are part of the country with Marty and Shiloh. This is a great book to live through as you read.
It‘s a book about a boy named Marty Preston who spends time up in the hills and finds a dog. The dog is a beagle that he names Shilo after the Shiloh schoolhouse. This book is about the story of Marty and Shilo‘s Friendship.
I've been pretty MIA the last few days... life is in the way. I've tried to at least comment on everything I'm tagged in. And since I missed out on the last several prompts, these are my picks. Shiloh is the first thing that comes to mind when I hear about a #HoundDog. I can't think of anything for the drive in.... for #WildDelinquents we have Dangerous Girls, which I definitely recommend. And last but not least, the bottom 2 for #TearsOnMyPillow
Shiloh is a cute RF novel about an abused dog and his new best friend. It won a Newbery medal in 1992. This book is great for LC and GR where teachers can present the book along with the class, while allowing them to read with their peers. The book is great regarding teaching students about responsibility and is an overall great read.

Naturally I'm partial to my Sadie girl but there are some #perfectpets in literature.
When I visited my family this weekend, my youngest niece was reading this children's classic. I loved Shiloh when I was her age, and I'm glad to see that she's enjoying it too. #SomeoneElseReading #FallIntoBooks @RealLifeReading
A quick picture of the birthday book haul! Also looking foward to using the Amazon gift card for more books! Excited to have a favorite from my childhood, Shiloh. It is a wonderful story, and I am super excited to add it to my collection. #birthdaybookhaul #geekbooks #whitehatlibrary #bookhaul #childhoodmemories
My daughter and I (she's 4 1/2) have started reading our first chapter book together, a chapter a night before bed. I brought her a stack of books and let her pick and she chose Shiloh. I wasn't surprised as she's become obsessed with dogs ever since seeing secret life of pets. We read chapter 2 tonight :) she's also really excited about her bookmark, which she got at her preschools halloween party and insisted we use it. So proud :)
I picked this up for my son but he refuses to read it. He doesn't trust me after I gave him Where the Red Fern Grows. 😬
This book is a beautiful tale of a boy and his dog. It will make you cry! Especially great to me because I used to have a beagle
