I really enjoyed this retelling of Peter Pan! I'm really not a fan of the original story, but for some reason, love almost any retelling of it that I can get my hands on 😂 This one was really creative! On to the sequel!

I saw the Broadway production of Peter and the Starcatcher back in 2012. I loved it, and wasn‘t aware of the book it was based on so picked up a copy. The #FairyTaleReadingChallenge gave me an excuse to finally read it. Unfortunately, the book wasn‘t nearly as magical as the play. The anti-Native racism is extreme, as is the fatphobia. The book is WAY too long and has too many characters. Sadly this is a rare case where the book isn‘t better.

A non-canon prequel to the classic neverland tale. Good not great.

Things were going fine (if a bit dully) up until a blatantly racist scene in which one of the grown ups earnestly teaches a group of children about “savages” and their “primitive” ways and FOR GODS SAKE WTAF. I get that it‘s a Peter Pan retelling but there is absolutely no good reason to include a scene like that. It amazes me how irresponsible people can be when they‘re writing for *children* 🤬🔥. Not quite 1st for #24in48

I read about a third of it. It‘s pretty good, I just wasn‘t in love with it. I think any Peter Pan or Pirate fan would go crazy for it though. My niece devoured them.

In books I found a home. #inspirational #poetry

I have been wanting to read this book for a long while now. So when #audible had it on sale I snatched it up. It is the story of how Peter Pan came to be. It is filled with mystery, excitement and humor. The pieces all come together nicely in the end.

My FAVORITE book series EVER. I still prefer "preteen" novels even though I'm nearly 20. The magic that I feel when reading these books is unreal.

This book is easily one of my favourites. I love retellings, and I love Peter Pan, so I can say with lots of weight in both of these fields that this book is very very good

Peter Pan is one of my very favorite stories. I don't know why I hadn't read this before but I'm so glad I did. I stayed up until 3:30 to finish it which hopefully signals the end of my reading slump. Though I may have a bit of a book hangover from this...
