Yesterday's second-hand #bookhaul !
The most expensive was the tagged book, which was 7$. The trivia book's battery still works! I'd call that a score! And any Vonda McIntyre is an insta buy in this house. I scored!

Inherited the tagged from my brother 4 years ago. Haven‘t read it, haven‘t got rid of it…bc it seems like an important worthy book, but the size of it repels me 😳
Anyone read it?

The books I got/ bought for my #birthday (a little over a month ago)
Carvings in sandstone cliffs are just minutes from my house at Worden's Ledges in Hinkley Reservation, Greater Cleveland Metroparks, Hinkley, Ohio. I finally made it to Atlas Obscura destination!
Since traveling is out for the foreseeable future, I've been diving into this gem. What non-self-help books are helping you right now?
A collection of offbeat and eccentric locations collected from their website. This book showcases ship graveyards, glow worm caves, weird festivals, and more for the intrepid explorer who enjoys exploring off the beaten path.

The world is an intensely strange place, filled with fascinating sites both natural and man-made and if you‘re interested in learning about the beautiful weirdness in our global backyard, you must check out this book.
This isn‘t exactly a graveyard but rather an outdoor art installation called Screaming Heads in the tiny town of Burke‘s Falls, Ontario. still creeps me out so I figured it‘ll pass for today‘s

If this can give somebody closure from the pain of losing a loved one I think it is a beautiful idea...♡♡♡
Dangerous free booklet that we picked up on Independent Bookstore Day. In just 16 pages I think I have at least 5 vacations planned! #bookishproblems
Mr. JSW bought me this book and I am completely absorbed. I love its random places and factoids. 😂🦛🦛🦛🦛

This should be interesting.
If “museum” is on a building, I‘m game to have a look. This book mentions some of the more unusual collections in the world, dedicated to such things as asparagus, absinthe, sharks, pig fat, antique vibrators, noses, phallic specimens (a blue whale‘s is largest: 5‘4”), cleaning, cannibalism, hearses, counterfeits, bordellos, BDSM, ticks (850 species), wax models of infant diseases, jewelery made from human hair, chamber pots, coffee cups, etc.
An atlas of the world‘s hidden wonders: it‘s the kind of book that‘s fun to browse. I was surprised how many of the them I had already encountered in fiction, like the dog suicide bridge (Internet photo above); Svarlbard seed vault; Shah Cheragh mirrored mosque; the difference engine; Saltstraumen maelstrom; taxidermy shop in Paris; Lumilinna snow castle; Chittagong ship-breaking yards; House on the Rock, Wisconsin; Weeki Wachee mermaids; etc.
I found the “merman” in Banff, which this book lists as one of the obscure things to see in the world.
Atlas Obscura has an entry for a Polish village of painted houses (Zalipie, inset above) but they missed a great opportunity: Čičmany village in Slovakia is full of gorgeous painted houses, all done in geometric white designs on black. Unfortunately, the only entry for Slovakia is Čachtice castle, where it‘s said that a 17th c Hungarian countess bathed in the blood of virgins.
An imaginative “merman” is displayed in a glass case in Banff, Alberta. I‘ve been to over 30 of the places covered in this atlas, but I haven‘t seen this peculiar thing which is located in my own province. It will be easy to add to my list because I‘m travelling to Banff tomorrow to stay at my brother‘s home for a week.
Tongzi dan have been standard street fare in Dongyang in Zhenjiang Province for hundreds of years. The smell of steaming urine wafting through the city heralds the arrival of spring.
Built in 2007 in Poland to represent “the uncertainty and shifting of traditions that accompanied the end of Communist rule.” The builders “had to take breaks every 3 hours during construction to ward off their disorientation.”

Padua University‘s collection of 56 wooden books made from 56 different tree species is the most intriguing thing I‘ve come across so far in the book.

It's a strange magical world we humans create for all to gaze a pond...
I have traveled for work before, and have been fine. However, for some reason, the anxiety hit full force for this trip that I could barely pull myself together to pack and get ready. All I wanted was to stay home & ignore the world for the week.
My sweet boyfriend surprised me with this fun travel book as I was heading to the airport. I feel so incredibly lucky to have a person by my side, even when I‘m a mess, and knows how to make me smile. ❤️
I've been meaning to read this book for a while now. Since I got the Atlas Obscura journal from @debthmpsn as part of the #greatwideopen swap package she sent me, there's no time like the present to pick up the ebook...we can always use another book, right? As an ebook, it'll be easier to take with me on any travels and adventures in the future.
This is the first of a few posts I'll have about my #greatwideopen swap package from @debthmpsn. I received such a lot of good stuff that it didn't fit into one or even two photos!! Here's my box of snacks including teas, a pair of socks, energy bars, book marks, a travel journal and stickers. 😀👌👍😍 Thanks so much!
This is an encyclopedia of unusual sites you could visit while traveling. It would make a great coffee table book. To read cover to cover - dry - it‘s an encyclopedia.

This book takes you all around the world and has beautiful photographs!!you will love it!!#litsy #travel #litsyreads #litsyfamily #read #book #bookaddict #booklover #books #booknerd #packyourbags

Going to spend some time tonight exploring the world through my Kindle. I‘m a wild and crazy guy! #OutdatedSNLReference
If you‘ve browsed this book, you know there is no resisting it for random facts fans. 😁 No one tell my husband I searched out the lovely indie bookstore, Sunrise Books (High Point, NC for my #nclittens), while I waited for my daughter today and purchased this for myself. Better yet, I told bookseller Laura about our community and I‘m pretty sure that @bramble is her. Welcome! #litsywelcomewagon
Books I'm thinking about reading for the Nonfiction Challenge 2018. I'm very much a mood reader, so I'm not promising I'll actually read any of these. I definitely will read at least 12 nonfiction this year. #nonfiction2018 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa
