ztorres Every time I see this book it never fails that I automatically start singing the song. I have read the book but I don't own it. I am putting it in my list for books to buy for my classroom library. I think you can't never go wrong with Pete the Cat series. 4y

DrSpalding Pete the cat books do not disappoint! Children in the primary grades thoroughly enjoy these books. Universal design 2.3 could work and English learner strategy two could work as well specifically if you were having the students partner read or if you used this book as a guided reading text. 3y

This MF theodor seuss geisel picture book is a great resource for a Choral reading. The book has a song that is repeated throughout the story which allows for an easy read along. Pete The Cat and his four groovy buttons by James Dean is a fiction picture book. In my opinion was an OK read but the activities I found for it were really cool and there seemed to be a lot of activities. They have math and reading assignments for this book. This book is a Theodor Seuss Geisel Honor award winner.

Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy buttons was written by James Dean and Eric Litwin. It is a great book to help children learn to count backwards, sequence, and gives a great story line. This book also is great because it take the kids on a journey and has a plot twist at the end (he talks about his belly BUTTON). Pete the Cat also got awarded the Geisel Award.

Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons is a MF picture book written by Eric Litwan and illustrated by James Dean. This book has won the heodor Seuss Geisel Honor Award. In this Pete the Cat adventure Pete keeps losing the buttons off of his shirt! This does not get Pete down though, he keeps enjoying his day and singing away! I would use this a S or RT in my classroom.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I picked up these today.

Tagged book includes math and a funny twist (if you're if target age—not for us grown-ups) (see spoiler below).

Of these three, I liked "I Love My White Shoes" best. I entered one quote on a previous post, and I'll put a spoiler observation/complaint in a comment below.

Overarching point of Pete the Cat seems to be "It's all good."

JoyBlue In "White Shoes," the shoes probably would have turned purple, not blue, after the blueberries (they were already red). You may think I'm being unnecessarily picky; but it wouldn't hurt the story line, may be more accurate, and would teach about secondary colors. ??? 6y

This is a an F picture book by Eric Litwin that was awarded the Geisel award in 2013 and I would use this book with the teaching strategies of CR. I think that really entertaining books like these can be repeated to the class more than once and having the, say it out loud with the teacher will help the readers with their fluency. This adorable F picture book would make a great RA and teaches students to always remain positive even when things don‘t go their way. This NYTBS was written by Eric Litwin and illustrated by James Dean. It is about a cat who starts the day off with four buttons on his shirt but as the day goes on he loses one at a time but doesn‘t let it bother him and he continues to stay positive.

WendyP I would use ESOL strategy 17 by using facial expressions, hand gestures and showing the video of the book being read. The UDL guideline that I would use is 1.2 by showing the video of the author reading the text. Litwin's animal F, Geisel award winning PB is great for an AS. The interdisciplinary book incorporates literacy, math, and music to create fun learning for young children. This book is one of the four original Pete the Cat books and serves as a great hook into other books that incorporate music, dance, and fun and are also written by Eric Litwin. Anytime I run our library's Family Storytime, I always finish strong with a Pete the Cat book. Kids and parents alike just love him despite the fact that the song is a HUGE ear worm. Today I read both of these books during our Baby & Books program and even the babies were dancing along to my groove!

The Munchkin yesterday, post-library. "Kwis, I wanna read a book in da car. I want Pete da Cat, da dot book, and da one wif da animals." The library is six blocks from her house. I'm helping to raise a reader, my job is done. #nannypride

BekahB Yes! My nephew turned 1 a couple days ago and I already warned my brother and sister in law that I am going to turn their kid into a reader no matter what! I get him books all the time and pretty soon we're going to start making weekly visits to the library and B&N. 8y

bookishkai @MaryAnn1 this little girl is a spitfire. One morning when I had mentioned going to the library she met me at the door at 8 am fully dressed. Didn't even let me get past her before saying "Kwis, we go to da libwawy! We needa go NOW!" She cried when I told her it didn't open till 10. 8y
