Shanti is everything in this book! She has a dream to be a queen to be able to help others. She sets up her entire life to reach that goal.

And then King Shanyu needs a wife. Shanti looks forward to helping her husband and his country, but it seems as if everyone, as well as tradition, is against them.

It was an emotional book. It was such a good book! The secondary characters added so much to the book as well.

It‘s kinda cold today, so Casey came on my lunchtime #audiowalk!

I‘m loving this romance about two people who figure each other out while they discover what makes for a good ruler. Fingers crossed I can squeeze in some more listening time later today.

Just wonderful. Sanyu II and Shanti are on a 4 month trial marriage. Sanyu's dad never found a long term match, so Sanyu has no reason to believe this will be anything different. When Shanti speaks out at a council meeting Sanyu decides maybe he should try to get to know her. And well, things happen. 😍

I enjoyed this installment of they Runaway Royals series. It wasn‘t my favorite but I liked the political intrigue and the interplay between a King who would rather be anything else and a queen fulfilling her life long goal. #MountTBR

Stayed up too late last night reading this one, and I'm wondering if the Reluctant Royals series used to contain this one too, because there is some hard core reluctance! A fun time, and I love the community that's building.

Happy to see Johan and Nya again, even if they're just texting friends!

Apparently the way you catch a queen is by being very boring. This wasn‘t terrible but definitely a letdown as I‘d generally enjoyed the Reluctant Royals series. Very slow, way too much political discussion, and not that I wanted it to be steamier because I skip those parts anyway, but it hardly felt like a romance novel at all. I appreciated Shanti‘s ambitions and that she stood up for herself. But no chemistry and hella slow/weak plot. 2/5 ⭐️

Though she had her usual red lipstick on, she wore pajamas: a yellow velour camisole and matching pants that clung to her hips and thighs and belled out around her feet. She looked soft and plush, like a naughty Pikachu. Sanyu was horrified that such a cursed phrase had ever formed in his mind, but...it was accurate.

[And the worst part is..........Rule 34 🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️]

I went into this book expecting a romance. It was a romance, but more of a political book in a fictitious nation with a romantic subplot. If that‘s what you‘re looking for this is a great book, it just didn‘t happen to be my preference.

How to Catch a Queen by Alyssa Cole is a great contemporary romance about a woman that is finally living her dream to be queen. How to Catch a Queen has great characters. Shanti is strong and willing to do anything to fight for what she believes in. Sanyu is trying to be a good King and wants to make everyone proud.

Thank you Avon/Harper Collins and Edelweiss.

Could I love Alyssa Cole's books any more? No, I could not. An arranged marriage between an anxious new king struggling under the shadow of his fathers legacy and a woman who's always longed to be queen to make the world a better place. Smart, steamy, utterly readable. I didn't want to put this one down for even a moment. And boy oh boy am I excited for the next book in the series!

I love this book. Shanti has worked her whole life to become a queen and she won't let anything stop her, even if her husband and his court refuse to let her do any meaningful work. I loved how much of the book focused on the politics of a country that once overthrew its colonizers, but now is struggling to move forward. As well as Sanyu and Shanti's relationship. I'm really excited to keep reading this series
