Les Misrables meets The Lunar Chronicles in the out-of-this-world sequel to Sky Without Stars thats an explosion of emotion, intrigue, romance, and revolution (Stephanie Garber, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Caraval series). A traitor. A prisoner. A fugitive. Wanted by the Regime. Destined to save the planet. Laterre is on the brink of war. The Third Estate are rioting against the injustices of a corrupt system. The Patriarche, reeling from the murder of his only heir, makes brutal attempts to quash the unrest, while a new militant faction launches a series of deadly attacks. And three outlaws find themselves pulled into the fray... Marcellus is now a traitor to his planet, willing to do anything to stop his grandfather from seizing control of Laterre, even if it means joining the Vangarde, a rebel group back from the dead. Chatine is a prisoner on Bastille. Desperate to survive the harsh conditions of the moon, she becomes embroiled in the Vangardes dangerous attempt to free their infamous leader. Alouette is a fugitive who has been lied to her entire life. Searching for the truth about her mysterious past, she soon finds herself hunted by the Regime for reasons shes only beginning to understand. But when Laterre is threatened by the emergence of a deadly new weapon, these three renegades must risk everything, traveling to the far reaches of the System Divine and into the white hot center of a planet ready to ignite.

My friends are all judging me for reading this. It's Les Misérables in space! Volume 2! It's only like 669 pages. NBD. And there's a 3rd one. And look at that pretty cover!

KristiAhlers Oh wow. So fun fact my favorite classic is Les Miserables so this is me stacking this series! 1y
CatLass007 I am a huge fan of Les Miserable as a musical. I didn‘t love the movie, but I would willingly see the Broadway musical many more times. And I also have the concert versions on DVD. That being said, I had to bail on Victor Hugo‘s book. It was a bit ponderous. I did add the first book in this trilogy to my Audible wish list, so I‘ll give that a go. 1y

vlwelser @CatLass007 mostly because it's long and it's fantasy and they pretend to be adults. 1y
CatLass007 Sounds like my kind of series. Being judgmental definitely doesn‘t make someone an adult. 1y
vlwelser @CatLass007 it's probably just payback for the side eye they get for all the bodice rippers. 1y
CatLass007 Ha! I was done with the bodice rippers in junior high. That was decades ago. 1y

This trilogy is fantastic! I try my best to take my time with these books because I just want to stay in the world. The plot makes it feel like the almost 700 pages that it is could never be enough. The writing is fantastic and crisp with well developed character arcs. Les Mis in space! Such a great original retelling. #booked2023 #Serieslove2023 #Readyourtbr #highlyrecommend

Book two of les mis in space brought us more of a French Revolution story. The mysteries weren‘t really all that mysterious But I really liked all the world building.

Yay for Les Miz song quotes!

KarouBlue I am totally loving this one! 5y
Jess_Franzino @MellieAntoinette I am about 100 pages in and....omg. It‘s the only Les Miz reimagining that actually keeps true to Hugo‘s style. 5y
KarouBlue @Jess_Franzino And the writing!!! I feel like slow savoring this one cause it‘ll be a year before book 3 comes out! 5y
Jess_Franzino @MellieAntoinette Same! Thankfully there‘s a nice catch up guide at the beginning. I was just like “I‘ll read it in bits over the next month”. But on day one of it I‘m at page 100, and want to read 100 more. SO. DANG. PERFECT. 5y

This is the sequel to Sky without Stars. i love how the book two cover is even darker than book 1 but both are black. I think it's the red highlights that make me think of blood and guts.

Cant wait to read it. But I should probably read book 1 first.

Out March 24

KarouBlue Loved book 1! This is my most anticipated of the 1Q2020! 5y
