"You will devour The Irresistible Blueberry Bakeshop &Cafe. Mary Simses can write evocative detail that puts you right in the scene, with dialogue that always rings true."-James Patterson A high-powered Manhattan attorney finds love, purpose, and the promise of a simpler life in her grandmother's hometown. Ellen Branford is going to fulfill her grandmother's dying wish--to find the hometown boy she once loved, and give him her last letter. Ellen leaves Manhattan and her Kennedy-esque fiance for Beacon, Maine. What should be a one-day trip is quickly complicated when she almost drowns in the chilly bay and is saved by a local carpenter. The rescue turns Ellen into something of a local celebrity, which may or may not help her unravel the past her grandmother labored to keep hidden. As she learns about her grandmother and herself, it becomes clear that a 24-hour visit to Beacon may never be enough. THE IRRESISTIBLE BLUEBERRY BAKESHOP & CAFE is a warm and delicious debut about the power of a simpler life.

Apparently these are the two books from my TBR that I pull out for blueberry prompts! I used them both last year for #BlueberryDay 🫐 💙🫐

Ellen goes to Beacon, Maine w/o her fiancé to fulfill her grandmother‘s dying wish: to deliver a letter to her gm‘s ex. There she meets an attractive local carpenter. What secrets will she uncover about her gm? Will she go forward with her wedding?

I didn‘t like this book. It was a badly written cliché, which made it boring. Most of it was predictable. The only thing I liked was getting to know her gm more.

Ellen goes on a journey to run an errand given by her grandmother on her death bed. Along the journey she discovers much about her grandmother she never knew, but also begins to discover much about herself. It‘s a love story, too. Her grandmother‘s love, a new love and a new love for herself. @FeatherV I think this is one you‘ll enjoy.

FeatherV Ooo I‘ll add it to my list! 4y

1. My aunt always called me Lynnie , so when I was part of a group where there were two Lynns, I was known as Lynnie. But I don‘t really care for it.
2. The tagged book. Not really strange, but the first that came to mind.
3. Can‘t think of an instance.
4. I‘d like to say not very, but that would be a lie😊 An interesting cover will grab me every time.
5. Thanks for the tag @Crazeedi Tagging @AmyG and @ValerieAndBooks

Highly recommend. This is a wonderful story about a NYC lawyer sent on a track to the post by her grandmother. Ellen makes a journey of self- discovery and love in unexpected ways.

#maybookflowers The first thing that came to mind when I saw that #fruit was today's prompt. And I had blueberries for breakfast today, too!

Cinfhen Yum!!! I miss blueberries 💙💙💙 8y
Bostonmomx2 Have you read this? I had it on my wishlist then heard it was not so good 😕 8y
Lynnsoprano @Bostonmomx2 For me, it was just okay. It had a lot of potential that it didn't seem to live up to. The author is a personal friend of James Patterson, and I couldn't help but wonder if that helped her get it published. 8y
Bostonmomx2 @Lynnsoprano that's an interesting theory. If I see if free or cheap I may still try it it def won't spend much of anything. 8y
Garabrandtreviews I liked it, but it wasn't a favorite. Three stars 8y

Mehso-so

I really wanted to like this book, and the story had possibilities, but there were several times where the main character just turned me off. The premise is good, and the author did a nice job of setting the scene, but I found it a disappointment overall. But this was my #LetterI for #LitsyAtoZ, so I am four books down and 22 to go on my challenge.

This looks to be the longest title on our shelves right now, and I confess that I haven't read it yet. But I'm baking pumpkin cupcakes tomorrow (if the plumber gets here to connect the new sink), and I think this would go well with those. #longtitles #booktober

Zelma The cover looks scrumptious and is making me crave blueberry pancakes. 😍 8y
