Finished this tandem read. A friend highly recommended i did that way. I am glad i did because tower of dawn was boring till the last 100 pages. Lol chaol was boring till he finally got it together towards the end 😂

Onward over breakfast! I didn‘t get a huge amount of reading time yesterday since I did a bunch of pre-birthday stuff with my family (including a Chinese feast and a trip to IKEA, where this rainbow cake‘s full purchase price went to support queer refugees who hope to settle in Canada), but it‘s raining today and my job got cancelled so I hope to make up for that. I‘m feeling very just-one-more-chapter about my TOWER OF DAWN reread.
Casey ran away the moment I tried to take a cute photo of him with TOWER OF DAWN, so you get my coffee mug instead. I‘m finally gonna finish my Throne of Glass reread in July! (Unless I get distracted or I forget, like I did in June.)
I found this hard going, but I'm glad I got through it, as in typical SJM fashion, the last 200ish pages were good and some revelations were made that will be needed for the overarching story!
After the roller coaster ride that is Empire of Storms, I needed a break before I read this. At first I was a bit thrown by how far this seemed from the main story line. By the end, I‘m not sure if it isn‘t my favorite book since the first of the series. By focusing on just a few characters, it‘s a more compact narrative. The new characters are excellent, the idea of a perfect society unraveling is compelling, and some interesting twists 👇
This entire book is about Chaol and Nesryn and I definitely missed the other characters. I wish she had woven some of their stories into this one to break up the exhausting chapters of Chaol struggling with his injuries and emotions. That being said, it was still interesting and I loved learning more about the history and deeper plot points. I'll be happy to return to the rest of the cast in the next book though!
This story tells the story of Chaol and Nesryn when they are in the southern continent. If you are considering the tandem read, DO IT! TOD goes away from the main plot slightly and it would be hard to read on its own after the end of EOS. The book was still good but some chapters were hard to get through, and overall not as good as the rest of the series thus far. There are a lot of new characters introduced. I rate it a generous 4/5⭐️.
The fastest I read a book in the Throne of Glass series

I don‘t understand how people said they didn‘t like this book. Tandem read. It‘s about Chaol healing from what has happened to him. But not just physical, but mental and spiritually. A lot to unpack, yet still had time for fleshing out. 95% new characters in totally new place. I love this place. I like how it was shown as “perfect society” as it slowly unraveled. Slow romance was amazing. I cried and laughed out loud. Do tandem read it. #sjm
Tandem reading two books is more disruptive than I thought it would be. I printed this out to keep track. I'm 26% done with Empire of Storms and 31% done with Tower of Dawn.
I actually enjoyed this book and I‘m not sure if it‘s because Aelin is barely involved or it was the new characters and location. It‘s one people think you can skip but I definitely would not! Chaol is sent to Antica in the hopes the world renowned healers can fix his spine injury so he can walk again and possibly help raise an army to bring back to Adarlan.
“A gift.
A gift from a queen who had seen another woman in hell and thought to reach back a hand. With no thought of it ever being returned. A moment of kindness, a tug on a thread.”

Book 6 (7 with prequel--read it first) is why I like Maas so much. In this book she takes one of the beloved characters from the earlier books & makes him the main focus; his thoughts, feelings and perceptions as well as his struggle brings such depth to her series of books. This book will intro new characters and lands as well as bring some from the past back (read the prequel first!) If you like book series, try the Throne of Glass!
I don't know how she does it. Keeps me concerned and following these characters over thousands of pages. This has been my favourite book since Crown of Midnight. I loved Chaol and Yrene and the addition of Sardaq and the Ruks. I had to put it down a couple times due to the stress of what she was going to do to my characters. Only one book to go.

I was really dreading reading this book when I found out that it wasn‘t Aelin and Rowan‘s perspective, especially when the last book ended on such a cliff hanger. But boy am I a sucker for a self discovery redemption arc. I absolutely adored Yrene and everything her character was an d grew to be, and I definitely can‘t wait to see more of her in the next book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book in the series had different character development which I enjoyed and I really liked how the story pulls together so you have more understanding
My first goal for #marvellousmay
This book was an interesting addition to the series that just focused on Chaol and his healing journey and how he comes to meet Yrene. I definitely enjoyed reading about his journey and I love Yrene but I agree with other reviews about Nesryn's portion not being as engaging. Overall, very good!
Didn't think I would like it, but I enjoyed the tandem read with EOS because it made it easier. Wasn't a massive fan but glad I didn't DNF.
Bk11 of February & Bk1 of #20in4 #readathon is done! The 6th in the TOG series, technically it‘s really a parallel story, is much better than people were expecting when it was released. Following only Chaol & Nesryn, it was originally a novella until the story grew. With a new continent, culture, characters & creatures, it‘s captivating(see what I did there😁). #BookspinBingo #SeriesRead2022 #ChunksterChallenge #Pop22 #Pageathon #KickTheSlump
When I say it was VERY hard for me to finish this book… This was absolutely a spite read, fueled by my hate fires that burned brighter after every page. Will I read the next one? Yes. Will I be pissed about it? Absolutely.
I know people have lots of feelings about Chaol &breaking away from the main story to follow him in this book, but all my feelings on it are very positive. Aside from the final book in the series, this is my favorite, &Yrene one of the best characters Maas writes. It did take me about 50 pages to get into it, but then I was like”Aelin, who?”Love this story, Chaol‘s growth, Yrene & the all the southern continent brings, &all of Maas‘ crazy twists.
“Chaol Westfall, former Captain of the Royal Guard and now Hand to the newly crowned King of Adarlan had discovered that he hated one sound above all others.”

I swear to every god, if Chaol doesn‘t stop being an ableist little sh*t I‘m gonna DNF this book out of spite.
Oh my god Chaol is insufferable. How was he my favorite when I was a teen?? How??
I'm still never going to love Chaol as much as I love everyone else, but I truly love this story of healing for him. Plus a trip to the Southern Continent! #yafantasy
Book #27: It wasn‘t as bad to read as I was expecting. There were lulls for me, but the ending made it all worth it. I‘m not really sure how people skip this book because we do learn new info. I liked Yrene and the development of her relationship with Chaol. I really wanted to care about Nesryn‘s story but I feel like her character just isn‘t developed in a meaningful way. I feel like we only know her surface level even now. On to the final novel!
At first I didn‘t want to read this because Aelin wasn‘t the main character, but honestly, it blew my mind, it‘s so worth it and it has such a beautiful story.
Some beachside reading during summer vacation 🏖 #beach #throneofglass
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 73

So I finished this book shortly after finishing Empire of Storms because I was reading them together using the method above. And it was definitely an experience and I loved it. And Tower of Dawn did not disappoint it exceeded my expectations. Chaol definitely redeemed himself and i Also love all the other characters introduced. 4/5 ⭐️‘s though because it started of slow.
This book has been wonderful, even though Aileen and Rowan's storyline has paused for the time being. Caol's fate is an interesting read on its own and his eventual learning the truth about himself. I again found this book impossible to put down. It has admittedly been a memorable ride, and one I recommend as a #mustread

Neseryn theory - so far i have watched how even in the small-ish time they have been there on the southern continent, that she has fallen head over heals for it. she sees her family as much as she can she loves the city - its home for her. I don‘t think she's going to leave when Chaol does, i don‘t think she's going to be able to love interest or not.
Sartaq and Neseryn‘s ride tho informational was almost just really cute. I feel like next time - and I totally think there will be a next time - that it will be alot cuter
Yrene and Chaol are kinda cute - him caring for her , and her asking him to come to her self defense class that she teaches is a great start to whatever they will become.
“I won‘t be much help, I am in this chair” “your mouth still works”
I think Yrene is being portrayed wrong. She used to be so curious tho cautious. Now she‘s hard and kinda hateful
I have a TOD question; does it pick up? Cause I‘m still near the beginning (100 something pages)but it‘s feeling very sluggish to me
