🔸HELLO, InstaLove 😐
🔸Could have benefitted from being written into a full length novel.
It's been a hot minute since I have enjoyed a thriller/horror/suspense/whatevertheheckthisis as much as I did this one. I was all in from page one. Its a quirky, eerie, gory story that manages to be creepy & campy at the same time. And the hotel! I've always wanted to stay in a themed hotel & the descriptions for the rooms had me jealous I wasn't on the trip with them. You know, before the bad & nastiness kicked in.
I remember all the hype when this one came out, talking about how crazy it is, and refusing to give anything away. On the surface it sounds more like a thriller novel than the crazy horror novel it is. I loved the creepy setting, which had me tearing through this thing. I loved the macabre vibe. The ending certainly wasn't hard to guess at, though, and the buildup to it got a bit too repetitive. It was fun, but fluff.
🎧 This book is a great character study of 20-something best friends & loss. You know something is going on but what! Edge of your seat! Listened straight through. Good character development. And one helluva creepy supernatural story. Definitely one of the top five scary books I‘ve read this year. Great first novel, I‘d read another. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/4
Oh yeah! Super creepy Halloween read!!
This was a good debut novel. It was a quick read for me. Loved the hotel vibe. I definitely will look out for more books from this author. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Digging in to a new thriller. Hopefully it is good!

Solid horror/thriller. Elise‘s best friend Julie disappeared 2 years ago while hiking. Everyone tells her to grieve, move on, Julie is dead. But Elise is sure she isn‘t. Then almost 2 years to the day Julie is back, with no recollection of the last 2 years. However, she‘s.....different
It‘s certainly a page turner with its menacing creepy vibe, but I was disappointed by the ending. I did enjoy reading it though. 3⭐️
Thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Hodder & Stoughton, for the opportunity to read an ARC. #NetGalley
Book 5 for #LittensDressedInBlood (which I promise to post more about today and tomorrow).
I started this thinking it was going to be a thriller, but ya'll, this is horror! And it creeped me out! Think of Girl's Trip mixed with The Shining. I want this made into a movie. Horror Tip: if you have a friend who returns after being declared missing and dead... maybe grab coffee with them before booking a trip at a super creepy resort?
This was an entertaining, ridiculous horror read and I‘m all about it.
Julie has been missing for 2 years when she suddenly appears again. She doesn‘t remember what happened during that time period. Her 3 best friends decided to have a girls weekend away at a unique hotel (the hotel descriptions are amazing). But something is wrong with Julie...
This one got off to a sluggish start, and I was worried at first, but before long this slow burner was barreling full speed ahead towards all the creepiness and horror this girl could want! Well written and eerily atmospheric, this book is not for those who want just a hint of the macabre – it delivers the whole enchilada.
So I thought this was a mystery/thriller. And it is kinda, but then kind of mooshes up against horror ☠. I loved it, but it gets pretty messed up 💀 towards the end, friends. I just happen to be ok with that kind of stuff. I devoured it! But fair warning for gore and body horror. But it's great!!
I got to have a peaceful lunch break today.
My library book situation has gotten worse. 🙀🙀🙀
Not really a book for me. I picked it up because of the cover and the synopsis (that I must have have read until the end 🤣) and the whole time I was like “huh?!”.. 🙄 It does have a good thriller vibe sometimes, but most of it is dialogue and off to subjects that don‘t support the plot. The synopsis doesn‘t tell you what you‘re really in for. Too paranormal/sci-fi vibe for me. 🤷🏻♀️
Starting this one before work!
I‘m not back to work yet 😩, but some of the staff is, so I got library books today! 🤗😁
Julie disappears hiking then suddenly reappears 2 years later with no memory of what happened. She then gets together with old friends at a themed hotel and strange things start occurring. Fun concept, great setting, and enjoyable in places, but often wooden and boring. And a horror novel should never be boring! Plus, I felt what was happening was very obvious.
This was completely bonkers in all the best ways! I loved that it was set at the quirkiest hotel I can even imagine and that we aren‘t quite sure if our main character is losing her mind or if she‘s actually experiencing the terrifying things she‘s seeing. It took a horrific turn I definitely couldn‘t have predicted and I loved that. The narrator was good with the exception of a few voices that grated on my nerves a little. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Today I‘m thankful for 3-day weekends & not having to go to work tomorrow & the (delicious if I do say so myself) Mexican Street Corn, Hominy & New Potato Chowder I put together with TJ‘s Everything But the Elote Seasoning.😋I‘m also grateful for #ARCs from favorite librarians that I‘m finally getting a chance to read. After The Sun Down Motel, I‘m in the mood for scary/horror & creepy hotel setting.😱
This book is scary good fun! Even though I'm not much of a fan of horror books, I am 100% down with this one. Ms. Harrison provides the spooky elements as well as the laughs. Between Molly and Elise and their dry wit, I didn't know what to do with myself! 😂 A great debut!
Is this book about adults or junior high kids? Either I don't have enough female friends or these people are not my kind of chicks... 🙄
Another homerun recommendation from @Liberty - thank you! Move over, Stephen King, this is the horror novel that I couldn‘t put down. I LOVED the hotel setting, so vividly described and completely took over my imagination. A group of friends go away on a girl‘s trip after one of them returns from a 2 year disappearance. Horror abounds as the narrator wrestles with her own demons and those of her friends, both real and supernatural.
I just started this and I‘m already not liking it. I‘m not liking the writing style, I‘m hating the characters, and I haven‘t even made it to page 15. Already thinking of bailing, which sucks because I had been waiting on this book forever! ***Edited to add that I am indeed bailing.
Book 2 of the #deweysreadathon. WTF was this. 😩🙈
The women in this book are very unlikeable, but also I was skittish the entire time and couldn‘t stop reading. I have mixed feelings.
I thought this was going to be your standard friend drama, but there is definitely a shift about halfway through. I don‘t want to spoil it for you, since it wasn‘t spoiled for me, but it‘s an interesting one.
This is exactly the type of book I love to listen to while I work, so glad a skip the line copy came along.
Wow what a creepy twisty ride! Julie went out for a hike and didn‘t return. Some of her friends and husband thought she was died. Her friend Elise knew she was alive. Well two years later Julie returns. But is it really Julie? The four friends go away for the weekend and a lot of things start to happen. This book was totally different than I thought it would be. Can‘t wait to see what the author writes next!
This was creepy. I don‘t read a lot of creepy horror and I don‘t know if I loved it or hated it. Elise, Mae, and Molly lost their best friend when she went missing 2 years ago and now she‘s back. I knew this would be supernatural based on the premise and in horrors if it‘s not ghost I usually don‘t care or like the big bad monster. This is no exception in that aspect, what I did like is the creepy factor and Julie too. Overall worth the read.
This was an atmospheric and creepy read. I loved that there was a sense of wrongness throughout the entire book! I‘m looking forward to seeing what this author comes up with next!
Book #10 of 2020
Thanks to @BerkleyPub for my copy of this book!
I love, love, loved this horror debut so much! It‘s totally creeptastic! It‘s out today and anyone who loves a good scary read should order a copy ASAP!
I really enjoyed this! It was a tense story, deliciously creepy. I couldn't put it down! 4/5 ⭐
Oooo!! If you‘re looking for something spooky to take your mind off of the horrors of real-life, then I recommend this genuinely creepy debut novel! Four longtime friends reconnect in an isolated boutique hotel in the aftermath of one of the women‘s two-year mysterious disappearance... what could possibly go wrong?? It‘s an impressive first novel and I can‘t wait to see what Harrison follows this one up with! Thanks, #NetGalley!
Agh! Super excited to be reading this one right now! This is one of my most anticipated reads of 2020 and I was able to download the eARC this week and dive in. It‘s. So. Good.
Horror readers, add it to your TBR!
Julie mysteriously vanishes on a solo hike in Acadia. Everyone is devastated. Elise refuses to believe Julie is really gone. And then two years to the day that she vanished...Julie returns. With no memory of where she has been or what has happened to her.

All the HELL YEAHS to this book. Also, THE COVER. To steal a phrase from Doug Judy, the Pontiac Bandit: This cover definitely smushes standing up.🖤☠️🖤
