Isle of Winds, the first volume of my Changeling series, was originally released in Autumn, and much of the story is set during that season too. Though this was a couple of years back now, and the series has grown, I'll always associate book one with fall leaves, windfall apples and honey-coloured sunlight.

Only able to post the odd book-pic at the moment as I'm on a writer's retreat with another scrivener (and our respective broods) on a pretty remote Scottish Island. Love my book covers. I have some input into their look, but not as much as I would if I was a self-published writer (which I guess makes sense. Self pub writers I assume pay someone to put their covers together, so they should get to call the shots 😁)
As it's the other way around for traditional published writers, I can't grumble about the publishers choice when they're paying me for the book. But I've been lucky with their designs so far 🤞

Happy bank holiday Litsy people. What are you up to? I have some editing to do on Phoebe Harkness book three, which is hopefully going to be finished around Halloween. Tomorrow I get to go on a research trip for book locations to an old ruined abbey. Author field trip 🙌🏻

If you're a writer, what research material do you use? There's a lot of Latin in my Changeling series, so books like this are a good checkpoint in case my uni Latin has gotten rusty over the years

James Fahy creates a believable but mysterious world and I enjoyed my journey into Netherworlde with Karya, Robin and Woad. Each character is well-formed and I adored them all, from Henry to Mr Strife.

The story is so well-written, with a tight page-turning plot. I would recommend this book to everyone. At times, I had to stop and remember that the characters are young. It made no difference. This read is for all ages.
